Guangzhou, February 8 (Reporter Guan Wenqing) A few days ago, "Drinking a River Water - Special Exhibition of Bronze Civilization in the Yangtze River Basin" was launched in the Guangdong Provincial Museum. This exhibition brings together 137 pieces (sets) of precious exhibits from nearly 10 provinces and cities in the Yangtze River Basin, with first-class cultural relics accounting for nearly 40%, with a huge number and rich variety. There are also Sanxingdui bronze masks, Yue Wang Luying bronze swords and bells and other cultural relics "top stream" gathered in Yangcheng, so that citizens and tourists can spend a meaningful Spring Festival in the rich history and culture.

The reporter of the Guangdong Provincial Museum learned that this is the first exhibition in Guangdong Province to show the audience the splendid civilization of the Bronze Age in the Yangtze River Basin, and 54 sets of national first-class cultural relics are exhibited on site, which is one of the exhibitions with the highest level and number of cultural relics introduced by the Guangdong Provincial Museum in recent years. The exhibition focuses on the regional culture of the upper, middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River Basin, and focuses on the civilization of the three major cultural circles of Bashu, Jingchu and Wuyue during the Shang and Zhou dynasties, which have unique temperaments and different styles, and are also intertwined and mutually promoted.

The exhibition is composed of four parts: "Bashu Juhui", "Heroes Competing for China", "Diversity and Unity" and "The World is One": the first part, "Bashu Juhui", interprets the ancient Shu civilization represented by the cemeteries and tombs of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, such as Sanxingdui Ruins, Jinsha Ruins, and Majiamu Coffin Tomb in Xindu, under the vision of the Yangtze River Basin, showing the mystery and uniqueness of the Bashu civilization from multiple angles.

The second part, "Competing Heroes", starts from the ruins of Panlong City, the capital of the Shang Dynasty's southward journey and the military town, revealing the majesty of the princely kingdom of one side, the strange romance of the Jingchu terroir, and the Shangzhou good martial arts of the ancestors of Wu Yue, highlighting the distinctive characteristics of the bronze civilization in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.

The third part, "Diversity and Integration", interprets the characteristics of the bronze civilization in the Yangtze River basin and the two regional civilizations of the Yangtze River and the Central Plains, which are inclusive of all rivers and rivers, and have exchanges and mutual learning; The epilogue "The World Returns to One" tells the vicissitudes of the vicissitudes of the Qin Dynasty's annihilation of the Six Kingdoms, the unification of the world, and the integration of the bronze civilization of the Yangtze River Basin into the main civilization of China.

Ye Wei, the curator of the exhibition and deputy research librarian of the Collection Management Department of the Guangdong Provincial Museum, told the reporter of CCTV that the special exhibition uses cultural relics as empirical evidence, traces the thousand-year-old cultural context from Bashan Shushui to Jiangnan Water Town, and composes a song of the Yangtze River cast in cultural relics, which provides strong evidence for the "pluralistic integration" of Chinese civilization and profound cultural self-confidence. In addition, a number of dragon-related cultural relics were also exhibited at the site, showing the evolution of the dragon image in the cultural relics, explaining that the dragon and dragon culture have always run through the development process of Chinese civilization and witnessed the progress of Chinese civilization.

This special exhibition is part of the 2024 Spring Festival series of activities of Guangdong Expo, and it is also one of the series of activities of "Celebrating the New Year in the Museum" in Guangdong Province. It is understood that the series of activities of "Celebrating the New Year in the Museum" in Guangdong Province, as a series of sub-activities of the "Please Come to Guangdong for the New Year" Spring Festival cultural tourism series of activities, will open more than 1,000 basic exhibitions, nearly 200 Spring Festival special exhibitions and more than 400 colorful New Year's cultural activities in 385 museums in the province.
