On July 7, 1937, the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression broke out. On the basis of the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, the main force of the Red Army in northern Shaanxi was reorganized into the Eighth Route Army. After the establishment of the Eighth Route Army, under the leadership of ** and ***, it quickly joined the War of Resistance against Japan.

Many people may not know who the supreme general of the Eighth Route Army sacrificed during the entire War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

In the anti-"sweeping" in 1942, Zuo Quan died heroically at the age of 37. After his death, the most heartbreaking person was undoubtedly his wife Liu Zhilan. Six years later, after the baptism of the years, Liu Zhilan finally came out of the pain and married Chen Shouzhong, Zuo Quan's secretary.

Today, let's review Liu Zhilan's life story. Liu Zhilan was born in an ordinary family in Beijing in 1917, and her father died at an early age, leaving her to live with many brothers and sisters.

Fortunately, with her outstanding wisdom and talent, she successfully entered a normal school with no fees and living allowance, and was finally admitted to the Women's High School of Beijing Normal University and became one of them.

During her studies at the Women's High School Attached to Beijing Normal University, Liu Zhilan and his wife Pu Anxiu became friends, and they spent a wonderful time on campus together. In 1935, the "129 Movement" broke out, Liu Zhilan and Pu Anxiu actively participated in it, and their revolutionary ideas gradually awakened.

Subsequently, they went to Yan'an, the holy land of the revolution, and threw themselves into the tide of the times of resisting Japan and saving the country. Liu Zhilan attracted much attention during the Yan'an period with her beautiful appearance and was known as the "Three Beauties of Yan'an".

At that time, Zuo Quan was a senior cadre of our army and served as the deputy chief of staff of the Eighth Route Army. He is not only a rare high-level intellectual in our army, but also studied at the Whampoa Military Academy and studied in the Soviet Union.

Both spoke highly of Zuoquan, who once praised Zuoquan as "a rare talent in the world" and said that Zuoquan was "enough to be a model for the party".

In 1939, under the guidance of **, Liu Zhilan and Zuo Quan tied the knot. At that time, the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression was entering a critical moment, Zuo Quan's combat tasks were heavy, and the husband and wife got together less and separated more after marriage.

But their feelings weren't dampened. In 1940, Liu Zhilan gave birth to their daughter Zuo Taibei, and Zuo Quan loved this daughter very much. Two years later, however, Zuo Quan died heroically.

After Zuo Quan's death, Liu Zhilan stayed in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningbo Border District** and worked in Northern Shaanxi Public School for a period of time, until six years later, in 1948, Liu Zhilan came out of her grief.

That year, Liu Zhilan remarried Chen Shouzhong, Zuo Quan's former secretary, and started a new life.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Liu Zhilan served as a secretary of the Baotou Iron and Steel Company, and in 1960, she was transferred to Taiyuan with her husband Chen Shouzhong, where she served as the vice minister of Shanxi Agriculture and Industry, becoming a deputy department-level cadre.

If it weren't for the special period of the next ten years, she might have retired as a cadre and would not have encountered the difficulties that followed. In 1966, the ten-year special period began, and the rebels in Shanxi became active.

In January 1967, Liu Geping returned to Taiyuan from Beijing and immediately set up the Shanxi Provincial Core Group, of which Liu Zhilan and her husband were members.

After that, Liu Geping led the group to launch a seizure of power to the Shanxi Provincial Party Committee, and Liu Zhilan and her husband also participated in Liu Geping's seizure of power, which led to Wei Heng, the first secretary of the Shanxi Provincial Party Committee at the time, being greatly punished.

After Liu Geping seized power, the rebels in Shanxi were divided into two factions, supporting Liu Geping and Zhang Riqing, and large-scale armed fights often occurred. In this context, ** intervened to resolve the armed struggle in Shanxi, and Liu Zhilan and his wife were imprisoned as members of the rebels.

In 1992, Liu Zhilan died of illness at the age of 75.
