Badaling Enemy Tower

There are 43 enemy towers of different styles along the Badaling Great Wall, each of which shows its unique charm while maintaining consistency. Some of these buildings were dedicated to patrolling and guarding, while others were double-storey, with the upper floors equipped with battlements and shooting holes for defense, while the lower floors were used as living spaces and storage rooms for soldiers.

The spacing between enemy towers depends on the undulation of the terrain and the steepness of the mountain. The buildings are all made of solid masonry, with the first and second floors connected by arches and up and down by stairways. Each floor is equipped with shooting and observation holes, as well as facilities for drainage. The outer walls of the enemy towers protrude outward, while the walls are cleverly embedded in the interior of the enemy towers.

The south and north floors are located on the south and north peaks of Seki Castle, respectively, and each peak has four enemy towers, making it the first area to be open to visitors. The difference in height between the two peaks is significant, the slope is steep, and the enemy towers are arranged along the slope from low to high, and the north and south peaks echo each other.

Starting from Seki Castle to the south fourth floor, the total length of the city wall is 6858 meters, the height has risen by 127 meters, and the average rise is 1 meter per 6 meters. In the section between the third and fourth floors, the walls are meandering and about 500 meters long, with a steep slope of up to 70 degrees at its steepest.

The fifth floor of the north is known for its dense voucher holes, and the size of this enemy tower is 925 meters long and 9It is 34 meters wide and is divided into two floors. Entering the first floor through the coupon gate, you will find that the interior is full of coupon holes, which are made up of four rows of brick stacks, each connected by a coupon top arch, with a total of more than 30 coupon holes supporting the floor on the second floor.

The North Eighth Tower is famous for its towering 888 meters above sea level, it is the highest enemy tower on the Badaling Great Wall, so it is also known as the Sun Viewing Platform. The tower also has a two-storey structure with stairs for people to go up and down. On the enemy-facing side of the first floor, there are 6 arrow windows, which is the most numerous of all enemy buildings. The distance from the Sekijo platform to the north eighth floor is more than 1,500 meters, and the vertical height difference between the two reaches 228 meters.

The north-south line of Badaling

The Great Wall of the Northern Line, as the most famous and popular section of the Badaling Great Wall, has attracted the attention of countless tourists with its perfect restoration and suitable visiting conditions. The walls here are well maintained, but the slopes are steep, especially after the North Eighth Floor, which makes it more difficult to climb.

The landmarks of the Great Wall on the Northern Route, such as the North Fourth Floor and the North Eighth Floor, are a must-see for tourists. The eighth floor of the north, as the highest point of the Badaling Great Wall, is not only the peak of altitude, but also the commanding height of the vision. Standing here, visitors can enjoy the whole picture of the winding and undulating Great Wall at a glance, and feel the weight of history and the magnificence of nature.

Compared with the bustle of the northern route, the southern route of the Great Wall is more secluded. Although the walls here have not undergone extensive restoration like those on the northern route, it is this unpolished and pristine state that allows visitors to travel back in time and experience the vicissitudes of history firsthand. The slope of the Great Wall on the southern route is gentle, making it easier to walk, making it suitable for tourists who want to take a leisurely tour.

On the south fourth floor of the Great Wall of the Southern Line, there is a stone tablet engraved with the words "If you don't reach the Great Wall, you are not a hero", which inspires countless people to challenge themselves and has become a landmark attraction for tourists to take pictures. Here, everyone can become a hero in their own hearts and make unforgettable memories.

As for the choice of the northern and southern routes, it is advisable for tourists to decide according to their interests and physical condition.
