Recently, the 16th International Collegiate Snow Sculpture Competition was held in Harbin Engineering University, and 57 imaginative and beautifully made snow sculptures were unveiled on campus. The snow sculpture competition is a traditional project of Harbin Engineering University. As early as 2002, Du Zhaoqun, a teacher at the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, established the Ice and Snow Art Studio, and the main members were students majoring in industrial design at the school. In order to provide students with more opportunities to practice art, Du Zhaoqun led students to participate in various competitions. From the municipal and provincial snow sculpture competitions to the international stage, the "Harbin Engineering Ice and Snow Art Studio" is becoming more and more famous in the industry.
In this year's International College Student Snow Sculpture Competition, the work "Fairy Tale" of the Harbin Engineering University team won the special prize, and the team members are all from the school's ice and snow art studio. Captain Song Mingyu said that this was the team's first attempt at character carving.
From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the team members had to carve 27 cubic meters of snow in three days, with an average of 15 tons of snow is equivalent to the height of a building of dozens of floors. "This is a great test of the team's professional ability, comprehensive ability and collaboration ability. Instructor Du Zhaoqun said.
