Piano practice is a common way to deal with tension

A large part of the reason why we often feel nervous in practice is because we don't control our playing speed.

That is, when there is no preparation at all, or when there is no preparation, the work is bent on playing quickly.

The speed of playing does not match my existing ability, and if I blindly pursue speed, nervousness becomes inevitable.

This most common tension is solved by Wan and Luo today.

1. "Listen to the metronome to slow down" method.

This is also a method that I often use when practicing and teaching.

We all know that practicing with a metronome can make the performance more standardized and precise. But at this time, the reason why the piano learners feel nervous is because they are too impatient and unwilling to slow down the pace to practice.

Therefore, in this state, it is not easy to practice directly with the metronome.

Take it a step further and listen to the "click" of the metronome at a slower tempo.

Compared to following the practice directly, it is much easier to just listen without any psychological burden.

Moreover, in the process of listening, the originally restless heart will "rhythm" with the speed of the "point" sound, and finally restore calm, and most of the tension will be eliminated.

You can also listen to it several times to adjust your state before the exercise.

When you practice again in this way, you will have a good idea in your heart, and you will feel much less nervous.

2. The "Recording Error" Method.

In my previous article, I introduced this method of practice. Mainly through the "number error", and then improve the accuracy of the performance.

For example, when you find that you are starting to feel nervous in your performance, you should count the mistakes and flaws in your performance.

After counting, you can take a break and adjust your status. Then before the next exercise, you should suggest that you should make fewer mistakes and less nervous.

If you want to make fewer mistakes and become less nervous, you must first slow down your playing. Only in the speed that you can react to can you ensure the accuracy and relaxation.

I believe that most piano learners can understand this law.

It doesn't matter if you don't understand it, in actual practice, you will "bump into the wall" and "bump" it.

Slowing down and practicing is not just one of the two ways mentioned above. And neither method is "panacea".

Every piano learner should find a suitable practice method according to their actual situation.

In fact, practicing the piano is "cultivating the mind". The reason why I feel nervous is because my heart is too impatient, and I always want to grasp more content in a short time.

In the end, I found that the more I thought about it, the faster I couldn't. The playing is more unnatural, there are more mistakes, and everything has to be "restarted".

Therefore, in the final analysis, these practice methods solve the problem of restoring peace to the restless heart.

As long as you can do this, it works.
