UTS Events Basic Rules

Mondo Sports Updated on 2024-02-12

In the morning, looking at the tennis news and scores, UTS Oslo Exhibition Match ruble defeated De Minaur to win the championship, 14-16, 17-10, 16-13, 20-12. It's completely different from the regular event scoring system, so I went to search for UTS game rules and how to score, which is a bit interesting.

What are the UTS contest rules?

In terms of time: each match consists of 4 quarters of 8 minutes per quarter + (if any) time of sudden death;

The timer stops at the end of each session with a 3-minute break;

In a best-of-5 system, the first player to win the game in 3 quarters wins. If the tie is 2-2, the 5th session is played in the form of "sudden death";

There is no warm-up: the player starts playing immediately in each quarter, and the player serves two points each: A serves for two points, B serves for two points, A serves again for two points, and so on;

As a major change aimed at reducing downtime and creating more counter-attacking opportunities, UTS only had one service chance;

There are no lets, i.e. no wiping nets.

Coach in**?

The coach sits next to the player's rest position throughout the game and is available to coach between matches. Since the coach is equipped with a microphone, all coach-player interactions must be conducted in English, otherwise the player will be subject to a point deduction.

What are the UTS rules?

All UTS events (regular and grand final) will follow the same pattern:

Consists of 8 players.

2 groups of 4 people (Group A and Group B).

The two best players advance to the semi-finals (semi-finals and finals).

In short, the Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) is the world's newest, most exciting, and most innovative tennis league with a completely new format of the game. The league was founded by Mouratoglou, who coached WTA legend Serena Williams and also coached Halep and Rune.

UTS has introduced a modern format that includes intense 8-minute quarters, a relaxed code of conduct, and unique novelties.

For example, UTS places a strong emphasis on strategy and adds to the suspense. Live coaching and in-game interviews allow fans to dive into the hearts and minds of the players and learn more about their world.

What is the goal of UTS?

The goal is to establish a long-term international heads-up series that will provide an alternative to the traditional circuit. UTS is not designed for first-time event success. If UTS is a movie, it's a legend. Or think of it as a TV show worth watching.

On a deeper level, UTS aims to develop and consolidate a tennis fan base by enabling a new generation and other sports fans to discover and appreciate tennis. (Original: UTS **Translation: Lynn).
