Northwestern University's Pritzker School of Law recently announced that it will partner with the Northwestern Kellogg School of Management to expand its San Francisco Immersion Program to Los Angeles and Seattle, leading to the launch of the new West Coast Initiative.
The new program, which was launched last week, will provide new opportunities for existing and prospective law students, alumni and corporate and law firm partners in the Northwest. Launched in 2017, the San Francisco program in the Northwest offers students a new experience of learning in the tech and entrepreneurial environments of the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley. Students will live at Northwestern University's San Francisco campus, which opened in 2016, during the spring semester in San Francisco Silicon Valley, where they will take law courses related to technology and entrepreneurship, and will be able to work as a legal intern at a tech company.
Now, students also have the option to participate in Seattle's Tech Law Experience. In this program, most students begin with the first 10 weeks of study in the program in San Francisco, followed by a 4-week comparative experience in Seattle to understand the role of law in a high-tech business environment.
In addition, students have the option to travel to Los Angeles for the spring semester to study law courses related to recreation,**, and sports, while working as a legal intern at an entertainment or sports company. According to the introduction of Northwest China, the above two new cities involve three important markets: technology, entertainment and sports. Through the Northwest Alumni Network and the reach of the Law School, the program provides law students with access to experiences previously unavailable due to geographic and transportation constraints.
These programs are open to all J.D. students entering their 2nd and 3rd grades. Hari Osofsky, dean of the Northwestern University School of Law, said, "We are excited to launch a new one this spring"West Coast Plan", which is built on top of our San Francisco Immersion Program.
I am so grateful to our principal, Professor Emerson Tiller, our alumni, and the development team, who have worked together to launch the new Seattle Tech-Law Experience and Los Angeles Entertainment, Media, and Sports Law & Business semester)。 ”
"These innovative new courses, which have been unanimously endorsed by our faculty and staff, will provide students with access to cutting-edge developments in technology, entertainment, sports and business," she added
"The feedback from the West Coast program has been overwhelmingly positive, whether it's expert teaching, guest professor presentations, internship opportunities, or classroom space, thanks to the generosity of the legal community in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Seattle," said Prof. Tiller, the project leader. We are very satisfied with the implementation of these projects. ”
According to Tiller, the Los Angeles project will work with a number of CENTURY City-based law firms, including Paul Hastings, Loeb & Loeb and Greenburg Traurig, which have strong entertainment law practices.
