However, the "Type 55 rank" did not exist for long, and was officially abolished in 1965. It was not until 1988 that the PLA reinstated the military rank system, and this time a total of 17 generals were born.

When he was growing up, he witnessed the crimes of the Japanese invasion of Shandong, which made him determined to contribute to the cause of resisting Japan and saving the country from an early age.

Guided by this belief, he joined the local children's regiment and began to relay information for the Eighth Route Army in the base areas behind enemy lines. In 1946, a year after the end of the Anti-Japanese War, Wang Ruilin, who was only 16 years old, joined the army and became a soldier of the independent battalion of the Jiaodong Military Region. Subsequently, he took on the position of clerk and other positions, mainly responsible for the delivery of new soldiers to the front. Due to his outstanding performance, in 1947, the higher authorities transferred him to the confidential training team of the Jiaodong Military Region for training.

After graduating, he was ordered to go to the Northeast Military Region and became a confidential staff officer, where he witnessed the birth of New China. As Grandpa Deng's confidential secretary, Wang Ruilin's ups and downs in life are always accompanied by Grandpa Deng's circumstances. After Grandpa Deng's comeback, Wang Ruilin also ended his decentralization and continued to return to Grandpa Deng as a secretary; When Grandpa Deng encountered adversity, Wang Ruilin continued to be sent to work. Since his comeback in 1977, he has been working as Grandpa Tang's secretary and has long been committed to handling the affairs of Grandpa Tang's office. In 1988, when the People's Liberation Army reinstated his military ranks, 58-year-old Wang Ruilin was awarded the rank of lieutenant general. Subsequently, he served as secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the Central Military Commission, making outstanding contributions to the political construction of our army, relying on a solid theoretical foundation. In 1994, at the age of 64, Wang Ruilin was promoted to general and served as a member of the ** Military Commission until his retirement in 2002.
