Lane Changing Racing: China's Road to New Energy Vehicles: Miao Wei; Published by the People's Posts and Telecommunications Press.
Through various phenomena and viewpoints, the basic logic of industrial development tries to summarize some regular understandings, with the aim of making the development of China's automobile industry more stable, healthier and more dynamic, and striving to realize China's dream of becoming an automobile power as soon as possible.
As a product of industrial civilization, since its birth in 1886, the automobile has changed people's production and lifestyle.
Due to the long automobile industry chain, wide social involvement, and high degree of globalization, the big countries that have achieved industrialization are often also big automobile countries, and the countries that have completed industrialization are often also automobile powers. Under the influence of globalization, many developed countries have abandoned or relocated industries that have lost their comparative advantages, but the automobile industry is a rare exception. Undoubtedly, the position of any country's automotive industry in the global market is a key indicator of the country's level of industrialization.
After several generations of hard work, China has become a veritable automobile powerhouse. On the basis of China's large auto market, can we quickly find new opportunities for China's auto industry to become stronger? How to achieve the historic leap from a big automobile country to an automobile power? This is an urgent and important issue facing practitioners in China's automotive industry.
Under the impact and influence of the tide of informatization, the global automobile industry is experiencing changes in a century, and we are also facing a once-in-a-century historical opportunity of "changing lanes". In 2014, the general secretary of SAIC clearly pointed out that "the development of new energy vehicles is the only way for China to move from a large automobile country to an automobile power", which pointed out the direction for the adjustment of China's leading industrial structure. As a result, the development of new energy vehicles in China has entered the fast lane.
We fully realize in our work practice that only by looking for opportunities in differentiated development and changing lanes can China's automobile industry be able to catch up. Electrification and intelligence are the direction of the century-old changes in the automobile industry, which represent the "first half" and "second half" of the lane change competition respectively, and the "second half" of intelligence is based on the "first half" of electrification. We are playing against strong competitors and we can't afford to slack off, and from the first minute we have to give it our all and try to get the initiative in the 'first half'.
With the joint efforts of all sectors of society, after continuous exploration and summary, we have embarked on a Chinese road to develop new energy vehicles, and have achieved the transformation and development of the automobile industry on the track of new energy vehicles. Since becoming the world's largest new energy vehicle market in 2015, China has maintained a good momentum of development in the field of new energy vehicles, with annual production and sales and cumulative ownership accounting for about half of the world's total in recent years, and from 2021 to 2023, it will achieve "blowout" growth against the trend for three consecutive years. The development of new energy vehicles is the only way to build an automobile power, and it has become the consensus of the whole industry.
Over the past 40 years, I have witnessed the tremendous changes in my country's automotive industry, and I am deeply honored and proud to live in such an era and have the opportunity to devote myself to the construction of this industry. Since 2020, I have had more time for research, communication, thinking and writing, so I thought about recording what I have seen, heard, thought and thought about the development of the automotive industry over the years and compiled it into a book. On the one hand, it is to "drum" and "call" for the development of our country; On the other hand, while talking about the development achievements, it also objectively comments on the deficiencies and problems, through various phenomena and views, the basic logic of industrial development, and tries to summarize some understanding with regularity, the purpose is to make the development of China's automobile industry more stable, healthier and more dynamic, and strive to realize China's dream of becoming an automobile power as soon as possible.
After more than three years of writing and polishing, this book "Lane Change Racing: China's Road to New Energy Vehicles" is finally placed in front of all readers. The book consists of nine chapters, focusing on answering the following questions: Why did China first put the carrier of the mobility revolution on new energy vehicles? What are the advantages of new energy vehicles compared to other options? From a global perspective, what will be the impact of this choice made by our country? What kind of thinking does the development history and lessons of domestic and foreign automobile companies bring us? Why can China's new energy vehicles achieve a breakthrough and lead the world? What is the biggest bottleneck and obstacle to the future improvement of China's new energy vehicle industry? I hope this kind of ** enlightens readers.
Of course, new energy vehicle technology is still in the process of evolution and is far from perfect. Our automotive industry policy must also evolve with the times. The intelligent competition of the automobile industry has just begun, which in turn puts forward more stringent requirements for the elements of the development of new energy vehicles, and the comprehensive competition of new energy vehicle companies in various countries will be more intense. China's automobile industry is facing a more complex situation than before, and it is necessary to maintain the existing leading position in the future development, give full play to its advantages, make up for its shortcomings, and not allow us to slack off at all.
However, I believe that as long as we maintain historical patience and strategic determination, form a unified understanding and action, and make good use of the resources of all parties, we will be able to make further progress and achieve the grand goal of leading the development of the global automotive industry.
