As the 2024 Taiwan leadership election enters the final stage, the island is full of uncertainties. On November 15, an important news sparked heated discussions in Taiwan, and the Kuomintang and the People's Party held consultations again.
On the same day, in addition to Kuomintang candidate Hou Youyi, Kuomintang Chairman Zhu Lilun, and People's Party candidate Ke Wenzhe, former Taiwan leader Ma Ying-jeou attended as witnesses.
After more than two hours of in-depth discussions, the two sides reached a consensus and decided to determine the candidates for the leadership of the Taiwan region in combination with external public opinion polls and internal public opinion polls provided by the Kuomintang and the People's Party.
In addition, the participants also signed a joint statement announcing that each side would nominate a poll statistician to evaluate and review the results of public opinion polls released by various sectors of society between November 7 and November 17, as well as the results of internal polls provided by the Kuomintang and the People's Party.
The final poll results will be announced by Ma Ying-jeou on November 18.
The statement also stressed that after the "blue and white alliance," the two parties will jointly form a campaign committee to fully support the candidates for the chairman, deputy and "legislator" candidates recommended by the two parties, while the votes of the "non-zoning" political parties will be won by each party independently.
Ma Ying-jeou believes that the cooperation agreement with the People's Party is of great significance, and the two sides can assist each other in future elections and other aspects, and will go all out to implement the agreement.
Regarding the mainland's views on the "blue-white cooperation" and peaceful cross-strait relations, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council responded at a regular press conference on November 15. Zhu Fenglian said: "Peace, development, exchanges, and cooperation are the mainstream public opinion in Taiwan, and compatriots on both sides of the strait should work together, conform to the historical trend, adhere to the '92 consensus', and oppose 'promoting the return to the right track of peaceful development." ”
Zhu Fenglian's remarks clearly told Taiwan's politicians to have a clear understanding of the general trend of history. The mainland has not expressed its views on the 2024 leadership election in Taiwan.
However, this is not the case with the United States, which continues to smear the mainland's policy toward Taiwan and propagate opposition to the mainland's interference in the leadership election in the Taiwan region. On the eve of the Sino-US summit, the United States again began to hype up the Taiwan issue.
On November 11, Rosenberg, chairman of the board of directors of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), once again intervened in the Taiwan issue, saying at foreign events that the United States opposes the mainland's interference in the election of leaders in the Taiwan region.
In fact, before the meeting between the heads of state of China and the United States, the White House revealed that Biden would tell the Chinese side in person during the meeting that the United States opposes external forces' interference in the Taiwan region
The core idea of the new copy is that the United States continues to smear the mainland's Taiwan policy and try to interfere in the election of the leader of the Taiwan region, but the mainland has not expressed its opinion, and in the meeting between the heads of state of China and the United States, Biden will also make it clear that he opposes external forces interfering in the election in the Taiwan region.
The Chinese side stresses the importance of the Taiwan issue to Sino-US relations, and hopes that the United States will fulfill its commitment not to support "the United States", stop arming Taiwan, and support China's goal of peaceful reunification.
In Sino-US relations, the importance of the Taiwan issue is self-evident. Recently, the statements made by the heads of state of China and the United States on the Taiwan issue have attracted enthusiastic attention on Chinese social platforms.
In addition, an important meeting was held on the mainland less than 24 hours after Rosenberg spoke out on the election of Taiwan's leader. On November 12, the 9th Chinese Culture Forum, sponsored by Peking University and co-organized by the All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots, opened in Beijing.
The forum attracted more than 150 experts and scholars from the academic and cultural circles across the Taiwan Strait, Hong Kong and Macao, marking the first time in three years that the forum was held in the form of an offline venue.
The theme of the forum is "Chinese-style modernization and the rejuvenation of Chinese culture", and in-depth discussions were conducted on three sub-topics: "Chinese-style modernization and Chinese cultural inheritance and innovation", "Chinese culture and the integrated development of various fields across the Taiwan Strait" and "cross-strait art exchanges".
It can be said that such a forum is an important measure to take advantage of the fact that both sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to the Chinese culture to accelerate the promotion of cross-strait reunification.
Wang Zaixi, former vice president of the Straits Association, former deputy director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, and vice president of the National Association of Taiwan Studies, delivered a keynote speech at the forum. He said that the mainland's comprehensive strength makes "only a dead end."
Wang Zaixi firmly believes that China has developed so far that it has fully confidently declared: "* There is no longer any possibility. In the past, Tsai Ing-wen could not do it, and in the future, other "** molecules will not be able to do it."
Reunification is only a matter of time and is inevitable. It can be seen from Wang Zaixi's speech and the statements made by the Chinese and US heads of state on the Taiwan issue that the current situation in the Taiwan Strait is very tense and the people on the mainland are very concerned about the Taiwan issue.
At the same time, the election of the leader of the Taiwan region will be held on 13 January next year, and this election will determine Taiwan's future development direction and path, and it can also be said that it will decide the choice between war and peace.
Whether you are a "** element" or an external force trying to interfere with the Taiwan issue, you must understand that the Taiwan issue is the core of China's core interests and an untouchable red line in the course of exchanges with China.
As for how to solve the Taiwan issue, this is the Chinese themselves. Our armed forces have the backbone and confidence to realize the reunification of the motherland with confidence and greater ability.
