European and American countries have the world's major aviation market share, and airlines are either looking for Boeing or Airbus to buy planes. Now, COMAC's C919 has also become an important contender.
The outside world has mixed reviews of the C919, and some people feel that the C919 uses a foreign engine, and there is still a lot of room for improvement. The good news is that in terms of domestic aero engines, the Yangtze River 2000 test was successful, and China's aero engines ushered in a revolution.
In addition to Boeing, Airbus and COMAC, there are also Bombardier in Canada, Lockheed Martin in the United States, and so on. It's one thing to build an airplane, it's another thing to build an airplane's engine.
Aviation engine is the heart of an aviation aircraft, and the performance of the engine directly affects the speed, altitude, fuel efficiency and safety of the aircraft. Aero engines must be highly reliable, stable, and safe to ensure that the aircraft can operate properly in all flight conditions.
China's domestic large aircraft C919 that has been put into commercial use is a foreign LEAP-1C, because of the use of American technology, so there are certain variables, the best choice is to take the core technology of aviation development in their own hands. What many people don't know is that China has always had its own aviation development projects, the most representative of which is the Yangtze River system engine.
The development of the Yangtze series of engines can be traced back to the end of the 70s of the last century, when China began to carry out research and development work on aero engines. After years of hard work, China's aviation industry has gradually accumulated rich experience and technology, and in the early 1990s, it began to develop the Yangtze River series engines.
This series of engines includes models with different thrust classes and application ranges, and gradually achieves comprehensive coverage from low thrust to medium and high thrust. Until 2011, the domestic large aircraft project was officially named "CJ-1000A", and the corresponding Chinese name was "Yangtze River 1000A". And this is just the beginning, and the Yangtze River 2000 is also on the way.
China's large aircraft C919 has soared above the nine heavens, in the aero engine area, how is China's progress?
According to Yin Zeyong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said in an interview with **, the Yangtze River series engines have made significant progress, of which the Yangtze River 1000A engine can meet the power needs of a 150-seat single-aisle aircraft, and the Yangtze River 2000 is suitable for dual-aisle long-range wide-body passenger aircraft. In addition, Yin Zeyong also said that these two engines are commercial engines with large bypass ratio turbofans.
It is important to know that large ducted engines generally have higher efficiency and thrust than turbofan engines, making them suitable for large commercial aircraft and long-range flight missions.
Once the Yangtze River 1000A lands, it will be equipped with the C919, while the Yangtze River 2000 is targeted for the C929 model. So far, this engine has been successfully tested, allowing China to move to a new peak of aviation.
China's aviation industry has a two-pronged approach, with the C919 and C929 large aircraft projects in the front, the Yangtze River 1000A in the rear, and the Yangtze River 2000 engine follows.
Although it has not yet been put into actual commercial use, with the success of the test, China's aero engine will usher in a revolution.
The West has mastered the core discourse of the aviation manufacturing industry, from aircraft manufacturing to engine production have reached a monopoly level, since China's self-developed C919 can break the game, then the self-developed aero engine must also work.
