The warm sun in February shone into the vegetable greenhouse of Tianmin Pastoral Agricultural Demonstration Park in Wuqing District, reflecting the busy figures of farmers. They are picking ripe tomatoes one by one, screening, packing, loading them into trucks, or delivering them directly to customers, or picking up and delivering them by courier companies. These tomatoes, picked in the morning, often appear on the tables of customers in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region at lunch or dinner.
Our 'Little Magpie Dengzhi' tomatoes are a great gift for visiting relatives and friends, especially during the Chinese New Year. Yang Xiaoyi, a staff member of the park, pointed to a red tomato and told reporters that this fresh tomato is a star agricultural product in Wuqing District, and it has a very cute brand name - "Little Magpie Dengzhi". "This tomato variety is bred from a number of high-quality tomato varieties, and when you bite into it, the skin is crispy and juicy, the flesh is thick, and it tastes sweet and sour, and it is very delicious. Yang Xiaoyi said that in the whole planting process, agronomists use probiotics to remove pests, pollinate with bumblebees, irrigate with brine and control the watering water, and increase the light time and intensity, adjust and increase the temperature difference between day and night, so that the fruit accumulates more sugar, nutrients are more enriched, and the tomatoes grown taste more like fruits, which are both delicious and nutritious.
At the beginning, I started to build greenhouses and grow tomatoes, just to bring the villagers to make more money. Liu Tianmin, 46 years old this year, is a native of Nancai Village, Nancai Village, and is currently the secretary of the village's party branch. "More than ten years ago, the village was small, with little arable land, backward agricultural production methods, and most of the land in the village was planted with field crops, and the income was not high. Liu Tianmin said.
Although the village is poor, its geographical location is not bad. According to Liu Tianmin, the village is adjacent to the North Canal in the west and Wuxiang Road in the east, with convenient transportation, flat land, abundant water resources, and the surrounding rich tomatoes, cucumbers and other crop varieties have a unique taste, but they have not formed a fixed industry and cannot be sold at a good price. "I think that the village has such a superior geographical location, and if it finds the right path, it will be able to develop well. ”
In 2010, Liu Tianmin took the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei metropolitan area as the development orientation of "one-hour fruit and vegetable garden", took the lead in establishing Tianjin Tianmin fruit and vegetable professional farmer cooperative, organized 155 villagers to join the cooperative, and actively transferred agricultural land in the village to carry out large-scale planting.
Technology is key to growing high-quality produce. Liu Tianmin led the villagers to work closely with Tianjin Agricultural College, Tianjin Academy of Agricultural Sciences and other scientific research institutes, and after years of breeding, the main planting varieties of fresh tomatoes were determined, and standardized planting and brand sales were implemented, and the tomato yield could reach 4,000 kilograms. At the same time, Liu Tianmin also organized farmers to go to Shandong and other places to learn agricultural production technologies such as fruits and vegetables, and combined with local conditions, formulated green production standards and specifications, established field management files, and created a full traceability system for the quality and safety of agricultural products, so as to ensure the safety and quality of agricultural products in a 360-degree way.
After more than ten years of unremitting efforts and technical accumulation, the park has developed from a "small town vegetable garden" of several hundred acres to a state-level facility park covering an area of about 3,000 acres, with an annual output of about 15,000 tons of high-quality vegetables and fruits and an annual output value of more than 60 million yuan. The star product "Xiao Que Dengzhi" from Tianmin Pastoral has become an Internet celebrity product and is sought after, not only entering major supermarkets, but also selling at a good price on the Internet.
In the past, our tomatoes were basically the first major wholesale markets, but later through the creation of a unified brand, we turned to make healthy, green, fruit-flavored vegetables. Scientific planting, standardized production, and refined management have increased production efficiency by more than 20%, and gradually realized the high-quality supply of agricultural products. Liu Tianmin said that in 2018, with a long history of tomato planting, excellent management and management level, and high-quality tomato products, the park stood out among many business entities and was authorized by the Wuqing District Agriculture and Rural Committee to use the "Xiaoque Dengzhi" taste tomato brand. In 2020 and 2021, the "Little Magpie Dengzhi" tomato planted by Tianmin Pastoral won the first prize and the main prize of the "Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Fresh Tomato Competition" for two consecutive years.
'Xiaoque Dengzhi' is a characteristic and high-quality agricultural product brand focused on building in Wuqing District, and is a member of the regional public brand family of 'Wuqing Fruits and Vegetables'. According to Wang Zengyu, the relevant person in charge of the Wuqing District Agriculture and Rural Committee, since 2018, Wuqing District has created six "cute pet" series brands, including "Little Rabbit Pulling" fruit radish, "Little Bear Breaking" fresh corn, "Little Magpie Dengzhi" tomato, "Little Monkey Picking" fine fresh peach, "Mouse Planing" old sweet potato, "Xiaolong Cuicui" fine celery, etc., to cultivate and grow the regional public brand of "Wuqing Fruit and Vegetables", so that more growers can benefit from it.
Since last year, Wuqing District has realized the production standardization of 5 major fruit and vegetable brands such as "Little Rabbit Pulling", "Little Bear Breaking" and "Little Magpie Dengzhi" 3,250 acres, and launched more than 100 varieties of fresh corn with a planting area of 60,000 mu. Previously, the "Little Rabbit Pulling" fruit radish was stationed in nearly 400 high-end supermarkets in Beijing, with a single price of 8 yuan to 10 yuan, and the brand's premium ability was greatly improved. With a good-sounding and easy-to-remember name, unique taste, rich nutrition and green ecological quality, Wuqing's "cute pet" series of fruit and vegetable brands are "out of the circle", not only in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, but also in the whole country.
For rural revitalization, industry is the foundation and the market is the key. Wang Zengyu said: "Based on rural characteristic resources, the development of agricultural products with distinctive regional and cultural characteristics can effectively enhance the added value of agricultural products and enhance market competitiveness." In the future, Wuqing District will continue to promote the strategy of "brand strong agriculture", take agricultural brand building as an important starting point to enhance agricultural competitiveness, strengthen the shaping and promotion of a series of brands such as "Jinnong Boutique" and "Wuqing Fruits and Vegetables", and let Wuqing special agricultural products enter thousands of households.
