Everyone has their own unique brilliance, but also something that needs to be improved. We should cherish our own strengths, and at the same time bravely face and improve our shortcomings.
FigGeneral Hong Xuezhi In the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, General Hong Xuezhi's contribution was unparalleled. He is not only the deputy commander of the Volunteer Army, but also the commander of the Logistics Command of the Volunteer Army.
Throughout the war, although Hong Xuezhi was not in charge of commanding operations at the front, his duties were very important. He has three divisions of labor in the Volunteer Army Headquarters, one is special forces, one is logistics work, and the other is the overall work of the Zhi Division.
Hong Xuezhi provided many suggestions and strategies, which effectively ensured the safety of the Volunteer Army Headquarters, and was highly praised by the People's Republic of China. Hong Xuezhi's first-class National Flag Medal and first-class Independence and Freedom Medal are the best commendations for his selfless dedication.
Although *** is the commander-in-chief and political commissar of the Volunteer Army, when he accepted the first-class national flag medal awarded by the North Korean side, he said that the medal should be awarded to Hong Xuezhi. **'s words show Hong Xuezhi's important position in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.
He tried his best day and night to support the food and ammunition of the volunteers, and without him, the volunteers would not have been able to achieve victory. On the battlefield of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea, Han Jingxiu, the commander of the ** guard platoon, once recalled such a story: Some leaders did not like to go into the air-raid shelter, so Han Jingxiu directly ordered the guards: "If there is another enemy aircraft air attack, the leader will carry him in and hide if he does not enter the air-raid shelter!" ”
During the period of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea, because the US military held air supremacy, the rear of the Volunteer Army was often bombed, and even the headquarters of the Volunteer Army was in danger of air raids by the US military.
But with the persistence of Hong Xuezhi and Han Jingxiu, the safety of the Volunteer Army Headquarters has been effectively guaranteed.
During the Korean War, in order to understand the latest situation on the front line, the Volunteer Army set up its headquarters in Daeyudong, which was only a dozen kilometers away from the front line. However, this gives the enemy an opportunity to take advantage of it, because the US military has air supremacy.
Therefore, ** repeatedly reminded the command of the Volunteer Army to be careful of bombing by enemy planes and advised them to build bomb shelters. Hong Xuezhi, as the person in charge of logistics, decided to dig an air-raid shelter near the house where Mr. Peng lived.
However, the sound of explosives woke up Mr. Peng, who was resting, and he sent all the sappers away.
Fig**Inspecting the anti-aircraft artillery position***When inspecting the anti-aircraft artillery position, he suddenly became angry, the reason was that the engineer company was on strike, and Hong Xuezhi did not know the specific reason. Subsequently, he learned about the situation and immediately took measures to allow the engineer company to continue digging dugouts.
Angry again, Hong Xuezhi patiently explained, and emphasized that this was an order of the Military Commission, in order to protect the safety of ***. Although *** resisted this, Hong Xuezhi insisted on his position and was recognized and respected by ***.
When I met such a person, I couldn't help but be deeply impressed by it. Hong Xuezhi not only dug an air-raid shelter for Mr. Peng, but also dug a bigger hole more than ten meters away from Mr. Peng for a meeting of the Volunteer Army Headquarters.
Although I was very careful, an accident happened. Mao Anying's sacrifice kept Mr. Peng silent all day. According to the war history of the Volunteer Army: "On the afternoon of November 24, several US warplanes circled over Dayudong for nearly an hour.
Although everyone has become accustomed to US planes coming to reconnoitre, in the past, US planes only circled for about 20 minutes, but this time the hovering time has been tripled, giving everyone a sense of foreboding, which may mean that the enemy planes have discovered something. ”
In order to ensure the safety of the headquarters of the Chinese People's Volunteers, Chief of Staff Xie Fang ordered all personnel to enter the air-raid shelter at 5 o'clock the next morning after eating at 4 o'clock the next morning.
However, signs of danger appeared as early as the 24th. That afternoon, the plane not only carried out reconnaissance, but also blew up the substation on the slope of Dayudong that day.
When it was almost dark, another investigation was carried out, and Hong Xuezhi immediately realized that the situation was not good, so he called Deng Hua to discuss.
I'm not afraid of American planes, I don't need to hide. In order to cope, Hong Xuezhi brought the map of the war room into the bomb shelter. However, when Mr. Peng saw that the map was gone, he knew that it was Hong Xuezhi's ploy, and resolutely refused to enter the bomb shelter.
In the end, Hong Xuezhi persuaded Mr. Peng, and Mr. Peng entered the cave and asked the guards to move his bed into the cave as well. The air-raid shelter where Mr. Peng was located was very small and could only accommodate him and a few other people, while the personnel of the General Staff and Political Department were in another large air-raid shelter.
After waiting for 5 hours, the enemy planes did not attack, but because the bomb shelter was too small and the air was dirty, someone proposed to go out for a walk. In fact, all the staff of the Volunteer Army Headquarters had already entered the bomb shelter at that time, but why did Mao Anying go out again?
It turned out that this was also due to negligence.
Mao Anying and his comrades were waiting for the enemy to bomb in the air-raid shelter, Gao Ruixin and Mao Anying returned to the war room to look at the map, the enemy suddenly attacked the Yalu River Bridge, Mao Anying and Gao Ruixin died in the war room, Mr. Peng heard the shout and was about to go out but was stopped by the guards, and he didn't know that Mao Anying was in it until the end.
Fig** With Mao Anying and others, Mr. Peng asked the guards to ask someone to move the quilt, otherwise there would be no quilt cover. Mao Anying's sacrifice on the Korean battlefield made Mr. Peng deeply regret, and he even said to the guards: "Why did you blow up Anying to death?" ”
After burying Mao Anying on the front line to resist US aggression and aid Korea, Mr. Peng locked himself in his room and wrote a telegram to the ** Military Commission: "The Military Commission and Gao (Gang) and He (Jinnian): We have entered the air-raid shelter at 7 o'clock today, and Mao Anying is in the house with three staff officers.
At 11 o'clock, when four enemy planes passed by, the four of them had already come out. After the enemy planes passed, the four of them returned to the house, and suddenly four more enemy planes came, dropping nearly 100 incendiary bombs, hitting the house.
No other loss. Shiji at 16 o'clock on the 25th. On February 21, 1951, Mr. Peng returned to China to report Mao Anying's sacrifice to ***: "Chairman, after you asked Anying to follow me to the front line in North Korea, he worked very actively.
However, I did not pay attention to the instructions given by you and Enlai to urge Zhiji to pay attention to air defense on several occasions, and caused the unfortunate death of Kishi Ying and Senior Staff Officer, and I should take responsibility, and my comrades and I are still very sad to this day. ”
**Saddened to accept ***'s frank self-criticism, comforted him and said: "To engage in revolution, you always have to die." An Ying is an ordinary soldier who sacrificed his young life, he has fulfilled the responsibility of a Communist Party member, and he cannot sacrifice for the common cause of the people of China and North Korea because he is my son, how can there be such a reason in the world!
Which warrior's flesh and blood was not born to his parents? Hong Xuezhi has been transferred to the Volunteer Army Headquarters four times, and each time the air defense arrangements are made by Hong Xuezhi, and in order to avoid being "stewed with a spoonful", Hong Xuezhi arranged for the leading cadres and staff of the Zhi Division to set off in several batches.
Even so, Hong Xuezhi still encountered countless dangers.
An unexpected encounter caused Hong Xuezhi's jeep to be almost scrapped, and his leg was slightly injured, but his attention did not focus on his own injury, but began to pay attention to the safety of the bomb shelter.
He pointed out that the bomb shelter was too short and straight, and that the concealment wall should be deepened and added so that adequate protection could be provided in case of emergency. After a long journey, the group was exhausted, but when the air raid sirens sounded, they immediately went to the dugout.
However, Hong Xuezhi's roommate Deng Hua was too tired to sleep so hard that he couldn't wake up. Hong Xuezhi had no choice but to kick the bed with his feet to wake Deng Hua up. In the bomb shelter, they witnessed dozens of bombs falling from the sky, and Mr. Peng's house was blown into flames.
They also saw the enemy flying planes and strafing the bomb shelters with machine guns, but fortunately, their lives were saved because Hong Xuezhi reinforced the bomb shelters. It is said that more than 70 sandbags of hidden walls made of sandbags were hit by machine gun bullets at the entrance of Mr. Peng's air-raid shelter, and without these concealed walls, Mr. Peng could have suffered serious injuries.
Hong Xuezhi's alertness and judgment saved everyone's lives at a critical moment, and his calmness and decisiveness are deeply admired.
During the war years, bomb shelters did not guarantee absolute safety. When Han Xianchu and Hong Xuezhi were playing chess at the entrance of the air-raid shelter, the lights attracted the attention of enemy planes, causing a large number of enemy planes to bomb indiscriminately.
Han Xianchu hid in the bomb shelter, but another plane noticed him and swooped over. The two generals could only take refuge in the narrow bomb shelter, and sighed: "These Yankees really don't let people play chess well." ”
Hong Xuezhi assumed the heavy responsibility of logistics in an all-round way among the railway soldiers of the Chinese People's Volunteers, and succeeded in improving the efficiency of logistics and transportation by coming up with a series of practical methods. His ingenuity and perseverance made Van Vleet, commander of the US 8th Army, have to admit: "The squadron has performed an amazing miracle, and despite the allied air force and navy doing everything in their power to try to stop their **, their supplies are still miraculously transported to the front line." ”
At the end of July 1953, just after the signing of the Korean Armistice Agreement, Hong Xuezhi was awarded the Order of Freedom and Independence of the First Class and the Order of the National Flag of the First Class by the DPRK in recognition of his outstanding contributions.
In Hong Xuezhi's hometown, Anhui Jinzhai Revolutionary Museum, there are two first-class freedom and independence medals, and the first-class national flag medal is collected in the Dandong Memorial Hall to resist US aggression and aid Korea to commemorate.
