Is it necessary to revoke prefecture-level cities?

Let's take Guangdong, the country's largest GDP province, as an example, Guangdong has as many as 21 prefecture-level cities, but the gap between the beginning and the end is very large, and Shenzhen, which ranks first, is nearly 30 times that of Yunfu, which ranks last.

Moreover, the GDP of the four cities of Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Foshan and Dongguan accounts for 45% of the province, and the fifth city of Huizhou begins to show a cliff-like **, and what is even more amazing is that there are 7 cities in the province with a GDP of less than 200 billion.

At present, China's 333 prefecture-level administrative regions (including prefecture-level cities, autonomous prefectures, and leagues) are obviously impossible if all prefecture-level cities are abolished and nearly 3,000 counties and cities are directly administered by the province.

Moreover, prefecture-level cities have played a role as an administrative link between the upper and lower levels from ancient times to the present. However, there are equivalent to some prefecture-level cities with small populations and small volumes, and prefecture-level cities are densely populated, which seriously occupies national administrative resources.

Taking Guangdong Province as an example, prefecture-level cities with a GDP of less than 2000 are recommended to optimize zoning adjustment through mergers and acquisitions.

Prefecture-level cities have developed through block groups, complementing each other's resources, and other provinces and autonomous regions have learned from the downsizing of prefecture-level cities in Guangdong to reasonably cancel and merge some prefecture-level cities.

In this way, the number of prefecture-level cities can be reduced by 50-100 across the country, which can not only streamline administrative expenditures, but also optimize the allocation of local resources.
