Original title: Hand in hand to create a better future - the 21st century will surely witness the common development and rejuvenation of China and Africa.
Observer for international issues: Xing Yu.
China is the largest developing country in the world, and Africa is the continent with the largest concentration of developing countries. Similar historical encounters and common historical missions have brought China and Africa closely linked.
The law is gradually rejuvenated, and the new yuan is enlightened. From January 13 to 18, 2024, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China and head of the Communist Party of China, visited Egypt, Tunisia, Togo and Côte d'Ivoire, which is the first visit to Africa by a Chinese foreign minister in 34 consecutive years. From January 15 to 24, Liu Guozhong, Special Representative of the President, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China and Vice Premier of the Communist Party of China, went to Uganda to attend the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement and the 3rd South Summit, and visited Algeria, Cameroon and Tanzania. The above-mentioned visit is a testament to China's concept of sincerity, sincerity, amity and sincerity in its cooperation with Africa, and reflects China's great importance to Africa and its firm support for Africa's development and rejuvenation.
See the truth at the critical moment.
The solidarity and friendship between China and Africa have been formed in the common struggle for national liberation and sublimated in the journey of common development and rejuvenation. Recently, the 53 countries that have established diplomatic relations with China in Africa have expressed their firm support for the one-China principle and China's great cause of peaceful reunification in different forms. Looking back at the history since the founding of the People's Republic of China, African countries have firmly supported China's core interests and major concerns, fully demonstrating the fine tradition of mutual support between China and Africa. As an old, good and true friend of Africa, China will always stand with its African brothers, firmly support African countries in safeguarding their independence, sovereignty and national dignity, and firmly support Africa in enhancing its international status and discourse power, so as to become an important pole in the development of world politics, economy and civilization.
Modernize together.
China is marching towards the second centenary goal and comprehensively promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation with Chinese-style modernization. At the same time, Africa is accelerating towards the vision outlined in the African Union's Agenda 2063 and making every effort to build a peaceful, united, prosperous and resilient new Africa.
The path to modernization is varied. Promoting integration is the path of modernization that African countries and peoples have independently chosen. China has always been a firm supporter of Africa and is willing to be a companion in Africa's exploration of the path of modernization. China has been Africa's largest partner country for 14 consecutive years, and large-scale infrastructure projects such as railways, highways, ports, and electric power that China has aided or participated in have continuously benefited the African people, and flagship projects such as the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway, the Ajibouti-Djibouti Railway, and the Africa CDC Headquarters have helped improve people's livelihood in Africa. From working together to respond to natural disasters to fully implementing the G20 Debt Service Suspension Initiative, from health to poverty alleviation and benefiting farmers to digital innovation and green development, China has always been the most reliable partner of African countries. At the China-Africa Leaders' Dialogue held in 2023, China announced the launch of the "Supporting Africa's Industrialization Initiative" and the implementation of the "China's Plan for Africa's Agricultural Modernization" and the "China-Africa Talent Training Cooperation Plan". These three measures cover areas that Africa urgently needs to modernize, and are also a vivid manifestation of China's concrete actions to support Africa's development. Africa is a continent full of hope, and while accelerating its development, it will maintain its independence and firmly hold its future and destiny firmly in its own hands, and it will surely embark on a successful path of African-style modernization.
Jointly implement the Global Security Initiative.
In recent years, West African and Sahel countries have made great efforts to maintain regional peace and stability. At the same time, the regional situation is still facing many difficulties and challenges. The political situation in some countries continues to be turbulent, and domestic social contradictions are prominent. The region has long been at the forefront of international counter-terrorism, extremist terrorist forces are still rampant, and regional counter-terrorism cooperation is also in trouble. External attempts to impose a so-called model of good governance on Africa and to engage in "democratic transformation" have proved to be incapable of solving the root causes of instability and even triggering new chaos. Only through dialogue and consultation, political settlement of differences, and resolution of African problems in an African way can Africa be built into a peaceful and prosperous continent. **The Global Security Initiative (GSI) put forward by the President is to call on all countries to embark on a new security path of dialogue rather than confrontation, partnership rather than alliance, and win-win rather than zero-sum. We are ready to work with Africa to practice the vision of common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security, promote the political settlement of international and regional hotspot issues, and maintain peace and stability in Africa and the world.
In 2024, the new session of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) will be held in China, and Chinese and African leaders will once again gather together to discuss China-Africa cooperation in the new era. China will work with Africa to deepen the exchange of experience in governance, further align high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative with the African Union's Agenda 2063 and the development strategies of African countries, create cooperation measures that meet the development needs of China and Africa in the new era, and inject new and strong impetus into building a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future.
