The New Year is approaching, and the flavor of the year is getting stronger. The social workers of the "Fun for the Elderly" project in Qicha Community, Shiwan Town, joined hands with the Qicha Community Neighborhood Committee to send Spring Festival blessings and care to the elderly in the community, and provided home water and electricity safety inspection services for the elderly, so that they could live a safe, healthy and happy year. Social workers actively mobilized community youth volunteers to participate in this series of Chinese New Year activities to promote the traditional cultural spirit of respecting and loving the elderly in the community, and improve the happiness and sense of gain of the elderly.

At the event, the elderly hummed the New Year's greetings softly, and at the same time used their dexterous hands to cut out window flowers and the word "Fu", adding a strong festive atmosphere to the festival. Looking at the artwork full of blessings in their hands, the elders are happy. The word "Fu", which is full of good wishes, means auspiciousness and health. The social worker will select some of the works to give to the elderly, living alone, lonely, widowed and disadvantaged elderly in the community, so that everyone can experience the joy of New Year's paper-cutting and feel the full flavor of the Spring Festival.

On February 6, social workers mobilized young volunteers in the community to send the word "Fu" carrying good wishes for the New Year to the disadvantaged elderly in the community. At the same time, the staff of the Qicha Community Hydropower Team also conducted water and electricity safety inspections for the elderly, and the staff took responsibility to express the community's attention and care for the elderly with practical actions, so as to ensure that the elderly can live a safe and happy year!

This project takes the elderly aged 60 or above (including 60 years old) in the Qicha community as the core service target, comprehensively uses professional social work service methods to classify the target elderly, and carries out targeted social work services from four aspects: providing for the elderly, having fun for the elderly, learning for the elderly, and doing something for the elderly, and actively links resources and volunteers inside and outside the community to build a community support network for the elderly, and jointly explore a new model of elderly service in rural communities that involves participation, sharing and mutual assistance. The Qicha Community "Elderly Fun Together" service project is undertaken by Foshan Borui Social Work Service Center.
