On February 2, Tianjin, Guangdong, Chongqing, Gansu and other places organized publicity activities on the theme of World Wetlands Day, calling on the whole society to participate in wetland protection and restoration, and to know, understand and care for wetlands.
Tianjin carried out theme publicity activities in the Qilihai National Important Wetland in Ninghe District, and popularized the relevant laws and regulations such as "Wetland Protection" and "Tianjin Wetland Protection Regulations" through wetland protection promotional videos, layout of publicity display boards, and distribution of brochures. The total area of wetlands in Tianjin is 274667 square kilometers, in recent years, Tianjin has continued to promote the planning and implementation of wetland nature reserves, revised and improved local regulations, formulated local standards for the "Technical Regulations for the Monitoring of Important Wetlands", established a city-wide wetland protection coordination and information notification mechanism, a working mechanism for the connection between administrative law enforcement and administrative inspection of natural resources, and compiled the "Tianjin Wetland Conservation Plan (2022-2030)" to protect wetlands scientifically and in accordance with the law. At present, Tianjin has preliminarily established a wetland management system based on wetland nature reserves and supplemented by natural parks.
Guangdong carried out thematic publicity activities in the Qiao-Dangan Island Provincial Nature Reserve in Zhuhai, released the list of newly recognized provincial important wetlands in 2023 and the Action Plan for the Protection of Migratory Birds and Migration Corridors in Guangdong Province (2023-2035), signed the Framework Agreement on Blue Carbon Demonstration Towns in the Pearl River Estuary, read out the wetland protection proposal, invited experts to make keynote speeches entitled "Wetland Conservation and Rural Revitalization", and contributed to the Guangdong Wetland Ecological Photography Competition, The winners of the second photography contest of Zhuhai Qiao-Dangan Island Provincial Nature Reserve presented awards. Guangdong has an area of about 1.9 million hectares of wetlands, of which the distribution area of mangroves ranks first in the country, with 6 wetlands of international importance, ranking second in the country, 3 wetlands of national importance and 27 national wetland parks.
Chongqing held the "World Wetlands Day" publicity activity and the launching ceremony of the "Chongqing Wetland Carnival" in Zhongxian County, proposing to carry out a variety of offline and online publicity activities throughout the year. Carry out offline activities such as the wetland carnival camping festival, the wetland carnival ecological and cultural experience, and the wetland nature education into schools and communities; Carry out online activities such as "shooting with your hands" of wetland beauty and wetland essay contest to promote the concept of wetland protection from multiple perspectives and platforms. The total area of wetlands in Chongqing is 28390,000 hectares, successfully explored the experience of "small and micro wetlands +", established the China Small and Micro Wetlands Innovation Alliance, and explored and promoted the models of "small and micro wetlands + environmental governance, organic industry, eco-tourism, homestay health care" and other counties and districts in Liangping, Kaizhou, Qianjiang, Chengkou and other counties and districts according to local conditions, and explored a new path of unification of ecological beauty and people's wealth.
Gansu carried out thematic publicity activities on the banks of the Yellow River. By hanging banners, placing exhibition boards of wetland protection knowledge, giving on-site explanations, distributing publicity materials and publicity materials, the staff popularized laws and regulations such as "Wetland Protection" and "Wildlife Protection" to the public, introduced the multiple benefits and functions of wetlands, and enhanced the public's awareness of wetland protection. At present, there are 5 wetlands of international importance in Gansu, 5 national nature reserves of wetland type and 12 national wetland parks have been established in the province, and the protection rate of natural wetlands is 442%。
