Analysis of the mystery of the RMB denomination: the mystery of one, five and ten yuan, why is it missing.
Seven, eight? In everyday life, we always seem to be confused about the denomination of the yuan. When we open our wallets, we often see one-dollar, five-dollar, and ten-dollar notes, but strangely, seven- and eight-dollar notes are not common. Actually, there are some mathematical and practical considerations behind this.
We need to understand that the numbers and 10 have a special place in mathematics. That's why they're called"Significant figures", because they can be obtained by adding or subtracting other numbers. For example, 3 can be obtained by 1 + 2, 4 can be obtained by 2 + 2, and so on. This nature makes it easier for us to find change. Let's say we have 1 10 banknotes, but we only need to find 3 dollars in change in the transaction, so we have to do multiple calculations to get the result, which undoubtedly adds to the complexity of the transaction. And with the four numbers and 10, it becomes much easier to get change.
From a cost perspective, printing banknotes requires a cost. Moreover, the smaller the denomination, the higher the printing cost. If we were to print all denominations from 1 to 10, the printing cost would undoubtedly be much higher. In addition, if there are too many denominations, people may not use some denominations often in their daily lives, resulting in waste. Therefore, considering the problems of practicality and cost, we have selected and 10 three types of paper as the main circulating currency.
With the development of the economy and the increase in prices, some small-denomination banknotes have gradually lost their role. For example, two-dollar notes are a rarity in today's market. Since 2004, China has stopped issuing two-yuan notes. This is because as time goes on, the value of two coins gets lower and lower, and people prefer to settle with one coin rather than two two dollar coins.
The maximum denomination of the renminbi in our country is 100 yuan. This is also for practical reasons. For most transactions in everyday life, $100 is sufficient. If the denomination is too large, such as issuing a 1,000 yuan denomination, then for ordinary people, the monthly income may only be two or three 1,000 yuan banknotes, which will undoubtedly increase people's burden and inconvenience.
The design of the renminbi denomination is not arbitrary, but deliberate and realistic. Through scientific design, we can ensure the convenience of trading and the smooth operation of economy. As for the seven-dollar banknote and the eight-dollar banknote, perhaps it will return to our lives in the future with the development of market demand and technology. But at least for now, the combination of one-, five- and ten-dollar banknotes is the most scientific and practical option.
