In December 2023, the Party Committee of the Ministry of Public Security decided to make 2024 the year of the special action to combat and rectify online rumors, and deployed public security organs across the country to carry out a one-year special operation. The Cyber Security Detachment of the Public Security Bureau of the Eighth Division actively implemented the work requirements of the special operation, and on February 1, the Cyber Information Office of the Municipal Party Committee of the Division and the community of the 143rd Regiment carried out a publicity campaign with the theme of "Rejecting Internet Rumors and Clearing the Internet Environment" at the 143rd Regiment New Year's Goods Procurement Gathering. 
Through the placement of publicity display boards, the distribution of publicity materials, and on-site explanations, the activities explained to the public the dangers of online rumors, the significance of online rumors, typical cases of online rumors, how to identify online rumors, and the legal responsibilities that need to be borne by rumors. Actively guide the masses to establish a correct awareness of network security, so that they can access the Internet in a civilized, safe, and law-abiding manner, consciously become guardians of network security, and personally participate in actions to resist online rumors, actively resist and report illegal and negative online information, and jointly build a solid barrier against online rumors. A total of more than 300 copies of promotional materials were distributed at the event, covering nearly 500 people. 
Cyberspace is the common spiritual home of hundreds of millions of people, and it is time to crack down on online rumors and protect a clean cyberspace. The Cyber Security Detachment of the Shihezi Public Security Bureau of the Eighth Division will continue to increase the publicity of network security, strengthen network security supervision, crack down on illegal and criminal acts on the Internet in accordance with the law, and provide safe, convenient and high-quality network services for the majority of netizens.
