Women's Team News Taylor Hinds scored the only goal for the Reds, losing 5-1 at Manchester City
Liverpool Women ended in defeat in their first league game of 2024, with Manchester City coming back from behind to win 5-1 on Sunday (21st).
Reds captain Taylor Hinds gave the Reds the lead with a daring strike from outside the box at Joie Stadium (Joie is the sponsor and Manchester City are the only club in the Women's Premier League to have a home title).

But City scored a hat-trick from Khadija Shaw after an own goal from Gemma Bonner, while Chloe Kelly converted a late penalty in the game.
City were the first to threaten in the winds from the start, with Shaw's shot blocked by Bonner before he could threaten goalkeeper Teagan Micah.
On 12 minutes, the Reds made their first save of the game when Mika made an excellent save from Kelly on the left.
Three minutes later, Liverpool unleashed their first real attack of the game.
Emma Koivisto and Missy Bo Kearns helped the Reds to gain possession, and when Sophie Roman Haug scrambled the ball on the edge of the box, the ball was eventually denied by Hinds and she fired a beautiful left-footed shot over the head of home goalkeeper Khiara Keating.
However, the lead was short-lived, with City levelling within four minutes.
Bonner and Jenna Clark both defended dangerous passes from the right at the near post, with Shaw lurking in front of goal, but Bonner tried his way ahead of Mika and unfortunately set himself up for an own goal.
This encouraged Manchester City, who took the lead almost in a short period of time. Grace Fisk made a mistake with a pass at the back and Kelly intercepted, but Liverpool came back in time to block the winger and then Shaw.
However, the home team took the lead shortly after half an hour. Mika tried to get the ball to Fuka Nagano, but was cut off by Shaw, whose shot went through the goalkeeper's leg to give his team the lead.
City then dominated as Shaw's volley flew just over the crossbar and Mika made a brilliant save to keep out former Reds midfielder Laura Coombs.
Liverpool picked themselves up before the break with a brilliant team play that allowed Marie H Binger to pass forward Pocaens on the left, but her cross was cut off and Natasha Flint, who was advancing in the middle, couldn't get on the ball.
In the seventh minute of the first half, Shaw headed in after a short corner, but Mika's hand could only keep the ball inside the post and deal a heavy blow to the visitors.
In the second half, the Reds dominated the wind and created a scuffle in the box after winning a corner before City eventually cleared the ball.
Kelly switched to the left wing for the home team and unleashed a powerful shot that went just over the crossbar.
But then City extended their lead in the 11th minute of the second half.
Jasmine Matthews, who came off the bench, made a brilliant block in his own box, but the Reds quickly lost possession. Mika saved Shaw's first shot, but the City striker completed a hat-trick with a simple back-heel from the ball.
It was already difficult for Matt Bilder's side by then, with Mika making an excellent save in the pouring rain to keep out Kelly's header and City threatening to extend their advantage further.
Shanice van de Sanden came off the bench and created a big chance for Liverpool, but Hauge's close-range shot was brilliantly saved by Keating.
However, the opposite was when City scored again and Kelly converted a late penalty.
