In recent years, the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology has brought many conveniences and opportunities to our lives, however, we also need to pay enough attention and guidance to young people on how to use artificial intelligence safely. That's why OpenAI has partnered with CommonSenseMedia to launch a project to help teens be safer and more accountable when using AI.
The project will focus on the educational aspects of AI and will seek to find out how to make the tool widely available to young people and those who will be using it as part of their educational experience. CommonSenseMedia, a non-profit organization focused on child safety and usability, has been working to develop an AI-powered rating and rating system for parents, children, and educators. They hope to better understand the risks and benefits of technology by answering a series of questions, such as whether AI can foster a passion for learning among young people, whether it respects human and children's rights, and whether it exacerbates the spread of disinformation.
In this collaborative project, OpenAI will work with CommonSenseMedia to create AI-powered instruction and educational materials for children and educators. At the same time, they will also help screen out large language models for "family-friendly" GPT brands that meet Commonsense ratings and standards. The ChatGPT chatbot, as OpenAI's core product, will be launched by the end of 2022.
Commenting on the collaboration, Jimsteyer, CEO of CommonsenseMedia, said that by developing relevant materials, it will aim to educate families and educators on how to use ChatGPT safely and responsibly, so that we can collectively avoid any unintended consequences of this emerging technology.
Through the development of this project, we are expected to provide more comprehensive AI education and guidance for teenagers, effectively reduce the risk of technology use, and promote the healthy growth and development of teenagers.
