Rankings. For the thirteenth year in a row, Harvard University has topped the rankings.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has been in second place for eight consecutive years. Stanford University, ranked third for two consecutive years.
Tsinghua University and Peking University rose one place again, to No. 8 and No. 11 respectively.
The reputation of Chinese mainland universities continues to rise, with 15 universities on the list this year, including eight in the world's top 100. These universities are Tsinghua University, Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, University of Science and Technology of China, and Nanjing University.
According to reports, the results of the Times Higher Education World University Reputation Rankings are selected through one of the world's largest invitation-only academic questionnaires, and provide the final list of the world's 200 most powerful university brands based on the judgment of those senior scholars who have published the best (those who know the best about university excellence).

According to the Times Higher Education World University Reputation Rankings 2023, Harvard University has topped the rankings for the 13th consecutive year, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology has been ranked second for eight consecutive years. The U.S. has 52 institutions on the list, down four from 2022. The UK has the second highest number of institutions, with 20 institutions on the list, also four fewer than in 2022.

The reputation of Chinese mainland universities continues to rise, with 15 universities on the list, eight of which are in the top 100.
Tsinghua University is far ahead, rising from 10th in the world in 2021 and 9th in 2022 to 8th in the world in 2023. Peking University rose two places again, from 15th in the world in 2021 and 13th in 2022 to 11th in 2023.
In addition, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, University of Science and Technology of China, and Nanjing University also entered the top 100.
Harbin Institute of Technology, Wuhan University, Beijing Normal University, Tongji University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Sichuan University, and Xi'an Jiaotong University are among the top 200 on the list.
