In Changsha late at night, on the silent Orange Island Bridge, a life-and-death rescue is being staged. On the evening of February 17, when most people were immersed in sweet dreams, Liu Yukang, an auxiliary police officer of the Sixth Squadron of the Yuelu Traffic Police Brigade, was experiencing a thrilling rescue.
At around 23:30 that night, Liu Yukang had just finished the last shift of the day and was about to return to the team. When he drove the police motorcycle to the Orange Island Bridge, there was a sudden rush for help: "Comrade policeman, come quickly!" Someone here is going to jump into the river! ”
Liu Yukang's heart tightened suddenly, and he quickly drove in the direction pointed by the crowd. As he approached the scene of the incident, he was shocked by the scene in front of him: a young woman was climbing over the guardrail of a bridge, preparing to jump into the Xiangjiang River, about 30 meters deep.
Without time to hesitate, Liu Yukang rushed forward with an arrow step, grabbed the woman's arm tightly, and tried to pull her back into the railing. At the same time, several passers-by also quickly joined the rescue operation, and together with Liu Yukang, they held the woman tightly to prevent her from jumping off the bridge.
However, the woman broke down emotionally, crying and struggling to break free. At this time, half of her body was already suspended in the air, and she could fall into the river at any time. Faced with this critical situation, Liu Yukang decisively decided to let the crowd continue to grab the woman, and he quickly climbed over the guardrail and lifted the woman up with both hands.
At this moment, Yang Zhiqing, a police officer from the Wangyuehu Police Station of the Yuelu Public Security Bureau, also received the alarm and rushed to the scene. He quickly took out a safety rope and handed it to Liu Yukang. Liu Yukang tied the safety rope to himself and the girl respectively, and together with Yang Zhiqing, he lifted the woman's legs from outside the guardrail and pushed them up.
During the rescue process, in order to rescue the woman ashore as soon as possible, Liu Yukang stepped on the empty outside the guardrail four times in a row. Every time he stepped on the air, he was terrified, but he never gave up. With everyone's joint rescue, the woman was finally successfully pulled up.
Subsequently, the police from the Mochizuki Lake Police Station took the woman back to the police station. After inquiry, it was learned that the woman was from Changde, and after a quarrel with her family over trivial matters, she planned to jump into the river and commit suicide after she couldn't think about it for a while. With the relief of the police, the woman's mood gradually stabilized. Eventually, her family rushed to the police station to take her home.
Recalling the rescue experience that day, Liu Yukang said: "The bridge is 30 meters high from the river, and I am still a little scared when I find it later." But when people are saved, everything is worth it. ”
This rescue operation not only demonstrated the fearless courage and professionalism of Liu Yukang and police officer Yang Zhiqing, but also embodied the great love and social responsibility of the world. They have interpreted the solemn commitment of "the people's police for the people" with practical actions, and have also conveyed positive energy and warmth to the society.
Here, we would like to express our high respect and heartfelt thanks to all the citizens and police officers who participated in the rescue! It is precisely because of their selfless dedication and heroic responsibility that our society can be more harmonious and beautiful. At the same time, we also call on the general public to cherish life, care for others, and jointly create a warm and harmonious social environment.
