Recently, a friend came to ask if there was a Luo bean on Front Street and wanted to try it. It turned out that he saw the flavor description of Luo Bean when he was reading a coffee book, and thought it was interesting, so he wanted to try it.
Of course, there are Luo Dou in Front Street, but it is generally not taken out easily, because according to the law, every time Luo Dou is sacrificed, one guest is lost (just kidding).
First of all, let's briefly talk about what Luo Dou is. Luo Bean is Robusta, this coffee bean and Arabica coffee beans almost contract people's coffee consumption, of course, in the field of specialty coffee, Arabica is the mainstay, almost no Luo beans, so if you want to taste 100% Luo Beans in a shop that sells hand-poured coffee, the probability is very small.
Robusta is not a valuable coffee bean, and in the market, it is only a little more than half the size of Arabica beans. However, because it is relatively rare in coffee shops, it is a novel coffee bean for those who like specialty coffee.
In this regard, Qianjie plans to brew Luo Dou by hand and describe its flavor to everyone. This Luo bean from Front Street is from Vietnam, which is the world's largest producer of Luo beans, accounting for about 20% of the world's total coffee bean production.
Let's first observe what characteristics Luo Dou has in appearance. The middle line of Luo bean is "1-shaped", and the roasted beans are swollen and full, like small steamed buns. The dry aroma is generally the flavor of spices, roasted nuts, and baked bread.
This Luo bean from Front Street uses dark roasting, so the hand-brewing parameters use the brewing method of dark roasted coffee beans.
Filter bowl: KONO filter bowl powder volume: 15g Grinding: medium coarse (No. 20 screen pass rate 70%)
Powder-to-water ratio: 1:15
Water temperature: 87 degrees.
The water injection method is divided into 3 stages of water injection, the first stage is injected with 30ml of water and steamed for 30 seconds, and the smoldering exhaust effect of this bean is very good.
The second stage is filled with 100ml of water in a clockwise circle, the powder layer is raised as much as possible, and then the third stage of water injection is continued after the water level drops slightly, and 95ml is also injected in a circle in a clockwise direction to reach a total of 225ml. After the coffee droplets in the filter cup are filtered, the extraction is finished in 2 minutes and 20 seconds.
Let's smell the wet fragrance first, the aroma is not too obvious, and it smells a little hazelnut and caramel. When I taste it, the first feeling is that there is not much flavor, it is not very bitter, but the taste of the grain is very strong, a bit like very strong barley tea, the taste is relatively strong, and the texture is relatively thick. The flavor performance at this stage is not outstanding, nor is it unpleasant, it's decent!
When you taste the coffee again at the low and medium temperatures, the first smell of rubber comes to your nose, and then the taste of the grains will be heavier, the cleanliness is low, and the finish has an earthy, bitter and astringent taste.
The flavor of Robusta coffee beans is not flattering, because the bitter taste of chlorogenic acid, caffeine and other bitterness in Robusta is higher than that of Arabica, which also shows that Robusta is naturally bitterer than Arabica. Moreover, Robusta is generally planted below 800 meters above sea level, and its cleanliness and flavor are naturally inferior to Arabica grown at high altitudes. Of course, there are some better quality Luo beans, which will have a cleaner flavor, but the main flavors are peanut butter, walnuts, hazelnuts, wheat, caramel and other flavors.
Of course, Luo Dou also has advantages, such as Luo Dou has higher caffeine, as well as rich oil, which can provide mellow taste performance. The Robe Beans may not taste as good when used alone, so the Robe Beans from Front Street are used to blend with Arabica, and this coffee bean is the Italian commercial blend of Front Street, using Arabica from Brazil and Colombia with 10% Robusta to make an espresso that can enrich the fat and taste without losing the flavor.
Finally, if you really want to taste 100% Luo beans, you can go to some department stores with international zones, and there will be some imported coffee beans on the shelves. A few years ago, I bought a bag of Luo beans from Vietnam Central Plains No. 1, and when I opened it, it was a shiny and creamy coffee bean (I later learned that condensed milk and sugar were added to roast), which smelled very good. The espresso oil is very thick and delicate, and everything is very good, until you take a sip, which is shocking and ...... the heartYou must experience it.
