What is Autism?

Autism is a congenital neurodevelopmental disorder with two core disorders being impaired social communication, narrow range of interests and activities, and repetitive stereotyped behaviors. Autism begins before the age of three, and the manifestations are obvious after the age of three, and the vast majority of children need long-term training and special education support!

Are autism and autism the same thing?

Yes. The professional name of autism is Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), autism and autism are two translations of English autism, and "autism" is mainly used by the medical and special education circles in Chinese mainland; "Autism" is mainly used in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and other countries where Chinese is spoken.

Are we often talking about "autism" the same as "autism"?

It's not the same! The former is a state of mind, and the latter is a disorder of disease. What we often say is that "I've been a little autistic lately" is actually a state of mind, which is caused by changes in people's moods, showing that they don't want to talk and want to be alone. However, autism is congenital, and the acquired influence is often to induce or aggravate its degree, such as playing mobile phones, playing tablets, watching TV, playing games and other behaviors that abuse electronic products may damage the developing children's nervous system, but it is fundamentally different from emotional autism.

What are the main manifestations of autism?

1) Social development.

lack of communication or communication skills with others, lack of secure attachment relationships with parents;

Lack of eye contact with people and little or no active interaction.

2) Communication.

Verbal communication disorders, delayed language development, or language regression after normal language development, or lack of communicative nature of language;

Parrot the language of the tongue. Repeating what others have said or heard in advertisements, etc.

3) Behavioral aspects.

refusal to change habits and routines in daily life;

Narrow-minded interests, very focused on certain items, or particularly interested in specific items;

stereotyped, repetitive, or ritual behavior;

Other common behaviors include hyperactivity, distraction, self-stimulating behaviors, etc.
