In July 1940, there was an incident in Taihe and the local area, which made the people of the whole country angry.

On the way to the anti-Japanese front line in northern Anhui, 7 cadres of the Eighth Route Army were detained and killed by the local diehards in Taihe.

After learning of the incident, he immediately wrote instructions to the 6th detachment of the New Fourth Army, demanding that the facts must be ascertained and the culprits severely punished.

The two bosses of the Eighth Route Army Headquarters, Zhu and Peng, also sent a telegram to Bai Chongxi, asking the authorities to give an explanation to compensate the families of the deceased and punish the criminals.

At the same time, General Peng Xuefeng, who was working in Huaibei, immediately investigated and tried to restore the truth of the matter.

However, the local puppet county magistrate denied that they had ever murdered seven innocent comrades.

Faced with such a situation, how will General Peng Xuefeng investigate the truth and uncover the ugly face of the authorities?

Investigate the incident

After the Taihe**" incident, many people across the country were discussing this incident.

Although we are in the stage of united front against the aggressors, the authorities' actions against the Communists have not stopped, but have become more and more violent, and this is the consensus of many people.

After the incident, the soldiers of the New Fourth Army immediately held a memorial service in the Xinxing area of Wuyang to mourn and bid farewell to the seven comrades who were killed.

In addition to condolences, this memorial service also shows everyone's determination to resolutely oppose the rule of the authorities and expose their crimes!

General Peng Xuefeng, as the commander of the 6th detachment of the New Fourth Army, recorded all the events of the entire ** and reported them to **.

* Particularly attached importance to this matter, ** was also very angry when he heard about it, and he wrote a telegram to General Peng, which was published in the "Dawn Newspaper".

The newspaper was banned by the authorities a year ago, but it was able to survive thanks to new circumstances and countermeasures.

After that, the local ** refused to admit his crime, especially the puppet county magistrate of Taihe County, that is, Wu Huaide, who said that he did not kill the 7 martyrs.

However, there was an orderly next to him, who was named Xia Moumou, who said that he had witnessed the whole process of interrogation and abuse of seven martyrs by the puppet county magistrate.

On the day when the puppet county magistrate caught the cadres of the Eighth Route Army, the orderly was called to make tea.

He sent the tea to the pseudo-county magistrate according to his previous habit, but the other party said that he did not give him tea, but sent the tea to the reception room.

So, he brought the tea to the reception room, and as soon as he entered, he saw six men and one woman.

They were wearing gray, black and other shades of color, and he knew at a glance that they were from the Eighth Route Army.

These comrades are looking at the slogans, illustrations, and other objects on the wall, and they seem to be familiar with the environment.

Soon, they noticed that the orderly was making tea, and one of the comrades said very politely: "Thank you, please leave it there." ”

After pouring a few more bowls, he walked out of the door, met the puppet county magistrate and the military judge, and walked into the reception room.

Further outside, there were police captains, self-defense force team chiefs, and other military personnel standing outside, all with short guns in their hands.

At this time, he must not be able to leave, so he stood at the gate, waiting to make them tea at any time.

Then, in the conference room, the pseudo-county magistrate began to ask about their identities, but the orderly couldn't remember their names.

Immediately afterwards, the county magistrate Wu asked them where they were going and what they were doing.

The seven comrades replied that they were wounded and sick who had just come out of the hospital in Hunan and were going to work at the front.

The county magistrate Wu then asked them what their positions were and what they did. Among them are staff officers and instructors, all of whom are engaged in political work.

Then he went around the bush and asked questions that didn't make much sense. Finally, I asked them how to contact other comrades when they went out from Taihe.

This group of comrades also took out the contact list and showed it to the county magistrate Wu. After Wu saw it, he pretended to say that the county ** would help contact them, and first asked them to stay in the garrison.

In fact, it was a temporary detention center, and the seven comrades were held in this way. As for whether there will be a follow-up interrogation, the security officer does not know.

When he saw his comrades again, what he saw was that they were tied up by the magistrate of Wu.

Similarly, he couldn't remember what day it was, but he remembered that it was early in the morning, and he was sleeping when he was woken up by the county magistrate's wife.

The lady asked the county magistrate where he had gone, and he called another orderly, and the three of them went out together to find someone.

Finally, in the air-raid shelter in the backyard of the house, he found the county magistrate, and in addition, he also saw people from other troops, who were helping the county magistrate tie up his comrades.

Soon, he learned that these seven comrades were sent to the north gate of Taihe, and all of them were executed by the county magistrate and others in the highway traffic ditch.

After they finished severing, they divided the luggage of these comrades, burned their books and study notes, and even destroyed the watches that could not be divided.

At that time, he recalled that the afternoon before the comrades died, a translator Li Quan sent a telegram.

At that time, the county magistrate was inviting the officers of the Second Cavalry Army to dinner, and after he got the telegram, he was about to give it to Captain Wu to see, but was snatched by the county magistrate.

That night, he heard that the captain of the Wuyao squadron had sent people out, but no one knew what they were going to do at that time.

Clearly, this was a premeditated, organized operation of an extremely egregious nature.

In fact, during the detention of these seven comrades, they asked the local Eighth Route Army office for help.

General Peng Xuefeng and others received the news, but why couldn't they rescue them in the end?

Secretly conspiring

In July 1940, after the Taihe ** incident, General Peng Xuefeng and others reported the whole process of the case as soon as possible.

During the detention of the seven comrades, General Peng and others demanded that the local county magistrate release them.

Why didn't the local ** release them, and finally killed all the comrades, what is the intention behind this?

As the previous seven comrades said, they were indeed preparing to work in the 6th Detachment of the New Fourth Army.

In fact, when they first set out, their team consisted of 12 people, of whom 4 comrades were graduates of the Marxist-Leninist Academy, and the other 8 comrades were medical personnel.

At the beginning of July 1940, they arrived at the Luoyang office of the Eighth Route Army, and on July 8, they were escorted by Jiao Cheng of the Henan Provincial Party Committee.

As soon as they walked to Ru County, Henan, they sent a telegram asking four college graduates to return to Yan'an.

Then Comrade Jiao Cheng fell ill and could not continue to escort him, ** Su Yuqing was in labor, and there were only 7 people left in the entire team.

The leading comrade is named Ding Qianhui, who has participated in the Red Army and completed the entire Long March, and is an experienced comrade.

Except for Comrade Yang Chengrong, who was not a medical worker, they all worked in various departments of the Red Army Hospital, and all of them joined the Red Army and were tested soldiers.

On the evening of July 12, 1940, they arrived at Taihe Yuanqiangji, and were soon found and detained by the local militia group, and then they were brought to the county magistrate Wu, and there was an incident of seizure without reason.

On the 4th day of their detention, under the condition of starvation and hard work, the comrades won the opportunity to go out.

Comrade Ding Qianhui took six comrades and took the opportunity of eating out to get in touch with Comrade Sun Zhongsan, an underground party member, at the Xujia Hotel.

With the help of this comrade, the news of their detention was passed on to the 6th Detachment of the New Fourth Army and the Office of the Eighth Route Army in Luoyang.

Soon, both sides received distress letters from seven comrades, and they immediately sent people to Wu Huaide's mansion to ask for help.

The people on the other side of the office were stopped by the ** on the road, and General Peng's people arrived at the house two days later to negotiate.

Unexpectedly, Wu directly refused to meet the soldiers, and only sent a secretary to pass the word, saying that he had not found the whereabouts of the seven comrades.

In fact, the day after he detained them, he asked Li Pinxian, chairman of Anhui Province, and the Second Cavalry Army for instructions to deal with seven comrades.

In the comrades' distress letters, it was clearly written that they were detained by Wu Huaide and others for no reason that day.

It can be seen that the county magistrate Wu is a diehard, and his attitude makes the soldiers of the New Fourth Army angry.

After the New Fourth Army learned of the situation, on July 19, 1940, Chairman Li sent a telegram to the county magistrate of Wu, asking him to immediately dispose of the "detained Eighth Route Army".

Then, there was a crime scene seen by the orderlies, and an escort outside the city to be secretly shot.

Later, according to the confession of Yu Gang, the criminal officer of the police station, on the night of the execution, they were divided into three groups and executed seven comrades in groups.

Comrade Ding Qianhui was the first to be killed, and on the way to the execution ground, he insisted on shouting his oath, saying that he was martyred for the country and died honorably.

As a doctor and Comrade Ding's revolutionary partner, Cheng Li also regarded death as home, saying: "Death is nothing, in another 20 years, I will be a Communist Party member again!" ”

After calmly taking justice, the county magistrate of Wu also sent an autopsy to confirm that he was dead.

Later, the soldiers of the Eighth Route Army came to the door to ask for someone, which caused them to panic, fearing that the crime would be exposed and not good for them.

So they immediately thought of burning the corpses, and it was only then that they realized that they were in the background of unification against Japan, and they were going backwards.

They killed these comrades, and all they feared was that they would be approached, without the slightest sense of human heart or guilt.

One day after the soldiers died, the group threw all the bodies into the sand river overnight in an attempt to destroy the evidence and deny their guilt.

This series of behaviors made General Peng Xuefeng and others angry, and the local ** refused to admit their crimes and was stubborn.

So, how did they make their crimes public, expose their passive resistance to Japan, and murder the cadres of the Eighth Route Army?

The truth is revealed

On July 25, 1940, General Peng Xuefeng gave a detailed account of the case and clearly pointed out that the case was concocted by the local county **, and they had to give an explanation.

However, the other party has not reacted, in this regard, what efforts did General Peng and them make to expose their crimes?

The timing of Taihe**'s occurrence was particularly sensitive, and in August 1940, General Peng published an editorial in the Dawn Daily.

He used the paper media to expose the crimes of Taihe County to the local and even the whole country.

Just before the Taihe case, Chiang Kai-shek had just issued a proclamation calling for a united front and unity against Japan.

Moreover, for a long time, the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression was fought very hard, and the arrogance of the Japanese puppet army became more and more arrogant.

Such behavior in Taihe County is undoubtedly unpopular and contrary to the general environment.

The seven comrades who were killed were all active soldiers, and they had only just recovered from their illnesses in the hospital and were full of confidence to return to the battlefield.

Wu Huaide and others acted in this way, and their superiors also took the lead in plotting to kill the soldiers of the Eighth Route Army, which shows that the authorities are not actually determined to unite the front.

In the later interrogation, it was learned from He Zhi, the then puppet police captain, that the group had killed the comrades and went on to insult the bodies of the comrades.

After they killed their comrades for no reason, the county magistrate Wu demanded that they push all the bodies into the side of the road ditch and bury them tightly with earth.

The people in charge of the execution were actually very scared, they just buried the person in the soil, and after two days, the soil on the face fell off, revealing the body.

Passers-by were surprised that a murder had occurred less than 5 kilometers from the city, and the residents of the city were panicked and talked about it.

After the county magistrate Wu and others found out, in order to calm the situation, they dug up the body and carried it to the river bank to discard.

Therefore, no matter how much the Eighth Route Army wanted people, they could not give anything, and the remains of these 7 martyrs were not found in the end.

In General Peng's editorial, he also mentioned the Pingjiang ** and Zhugou incidents that had occurred earlier.

In the same way, for the sake of the united front, the comrades could only do their best to speak out in the newspapers, calling for a united front, not harming their compatriots, and never committing acts of retaliation.

In his editorial, he pointed out that before the Taihe case, there had been cases in which other cadres had been killed in Anhui District.

Even though it has been confirmed that some cadres of the authorities did it, in the end they only expressed their attitude and asked for an explanation.

However, most of these cases were not resolved, which made General Peng feel very cold.

He clearly said in the article that the soldiers of the Eighth Route Army can tolerate many times and take the overall situation into account, but this does not mean that everyone will forget these ** and the sacrificed comrades.

They hope to find out the people who are behind the destruction, punish them, and comfort these innocent victims.

General Peng's editorial was sincere and very cautious and restrained.

Unfortunately, in the end they were unable to get an explanation for the Taihe case, but many people learned about the case through the "Dawn Daily" and were very disgusted with the diehards of the authorities.

From this point of view, at least General Peng, with the help of newspapers, has publicly exposed the ugly faces of some of the diehards in the authorities, which is also conducive to unity.

The occurrence of Taihe**, as well as many previous **, actually indicates that the diehards of the authorities are brewing a second rebellion.

As expected, on January 4, 1941, the authorities brazenly launched the "Southern Anhui Incident", and the southern Anhui troops of the New Fourth Army were attacked.

Its chief and deputy commanders, two generals, Xiang Ying and Ye Ting, were killed one after another, and the authorities finally tore off their ugly faces, and passive resistance to Japan was their real goal.

At such a difficult moment, the broad masses of the people and fighters did not flinch and persisted in resisting Japan, and only then did they successfully achieve victory in the War of Resistance against Japan.

After the liberation of the country, Taihe** opened again, and all those who participated in the killing of 7 martyrs** were arrested and sentenced to death.

The blood of the martyrs has not been shed in vain, and the party and the people will never forget their contributions.
