In 1991, an elderly man who walked tremblingly walked on the white grass depression of Panshan in Jixian County, Tianjin, and walked into the martyr's cemetery to pay his respects, surrounded by onlookers and accompanying people.
The person who worshiped was an old Japanese man who was a member of the Japanese army that invaded China, and this time he came to pay his respects to a general of the Eighth Route Army who defeated him decades ago.
This old Japanese man solemnly offered a wreath, the wreath is written on the bird of the frightened bow, the fish that slipped through the net, and the bottom is the immortal, pay homage to Bao Sen. expressed his longing for this opponent.
And Bao Sen was the deputy commander of the Eastern Hebei Military Region, and he led the army 51 years ago to defeat the invading Japanese army where this old Japanese man was at that time.
So what kind of battle did Bao Sen take LinkedIn's brave Eighth Route Army to fight with this Japanese veteran, so that he made a special trip back to the battlefield half a century later, beating his opponent at the beginning, and still issued such feelings?
Figure 1 On July 28, 1940, a heavily armed Japanese army marched in the Baicaowa area of Jixian County, Tianjin, led by a Japanese officer named Wu Dao, after the Japanese nobles.
At this time, he was dressed in a Japanese officer's uniform, riding a high-headed horse, and leading the soldiers arrogantly forward. Suddenly, there was a burst of gunfire, and the Eighth Route Army, which was lying in ambush on a nearby dirt slope, launched an attack on this group of Japanese troops.
Many Japanese soldiers were shot and fell to the ground, and Takeshima was also confused at this time, jumping off his horse in embarrassment and hiding everywhere. The ambush of this group of Japanese troops was the team of the Eighth Route Army's Eastern Hebei Military Region, and the leading general was Bao Sen.
Born in Shaanxi Province in 1911, Bao Sen came to a poor family and was full of rebellion against the dark society, and at the age of 21, he was exposed to communist ideas and later joined the Chinese Communist Party. In 1937, Bao Sen went to Yan'an Anti-Japanese Military and Political University to study Xi, and the Anti-Japanese War broke out before he graduated.
Figure 2: In 1938, Bao Sen was sent by his superiors to eastern Hebei to fight guerrillas in Hebei. The next year, at a young age, he captured alive the Japanese emperor's cousin Akamoto on the battlefield, and was later promoted to deputy commander of the Eastern Hebei Military Region.
When the battle broke out in Baicaowa, Bao Sen had only graduated from Kang University for three years, but he had already led the team to participate in the anti-encirclement, suppression, and anti-sweeping battles against the Japanese army invading China many times, and he had rich combat experience, and he was not yet thirty years old at this time.
When directing the battle, Bao Sen heard the shouts of the Japanese soldiers on the opposite side, and his face couldn't help but become solemn, and he said to his comrades-in-arms that he had made a mistake in judgment at the beginning, and these people were really elite Japanese soldiers.
But Bao Sen next emphasized that since he has started a war with the enemy, what he needs now is to grit his teeth and persevere, and resolutely eliminate this arrogant enemy with a spirit of not being afraid of sacrifice.
Figure 3 The reason why Bao Sen said this is to start with what happened a few days ago, not long ago, a new unit of the Japanese army invading China was transferred from Jixian County, and it attacked and swept wildly in Jixian County and the surrounding Zunhua and Yutian areas, burning, killing, raping and plundering everywhere it went, causing serious harm to the people.
Bao Sen decided to eliminate this Japanese army and avenge the death of his compatriots, so a few days ago he ordered two scouts to go to the county seat of Jixian County in disguise to investigate the situation.
After disguising themselves as ordinary people, the two scouts tricked the Japanese soldiers guarding the city gate into entering the city. After they lurked in the city to reconnoitre, they found that this unit was different from the previous puppet army.
During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Japanese invasion of China cultivated a large number of individual scum among the Chinese people as puppet troops, and these puppet armies colluded with the Japanese army to help the Japanese army harm their own compatriots. However, the two scouts found that the puppet army had not been dispatched recently, and it was the newly transferred Japanese soldiers who burned and looted.
Figure 4 This army is the Takeshima Brigade, the officer who led the team Takeshima was born in a traditional Japanese aristocratic family, has always been arrogant, and the troops under his command are also particularly brutal, the core elite of this army is the cavalry squadron of Takeshima, with 78 people, and it is these people who form the main force to sweep the surrounding area.
And this Wudao unit, which had participated in World War I before, and all members of the military rank was not lower than the warrant officer level, which was regarded as the elite of the Japanese army, and after the invasion of China, this unit participated in the 918 Incident and the Nanjing Incident, which brought great harm to the people of our country.
However, the scouts did not know about these situations because they could not investigate too closely, but they found out that this unit was preparing to go out of the city again to sweep the surrounding area in the near future, so they immediately returned to the station and reported the situation to Bao Sen.
Bao Sen made a judgment based on the summarized situation, because of limited intelligence, Bao Sen judged that the newly transferred Japanese cavalry was not the real Japanese, but a puppet army impersonated.
Figure 5 Because the puppet army has always bullied the weak and feared the hard, and was unwilling to fight head-on with the Eighth Route Army, many puppet soldiers liked to patrol in Japanese military uniforms, hoping to deter the Eighth Route Army from attacking them.
In addition, the information that Bao Sen had before was that there were no Japanese cavalry units nearby, and the nearest Japanese cavalry was 200 kilometers away from here, and there was no recent movement.
At present, only a few dozen people in this unit usually come out to sweep, which does not correspond to the Xi of the Japanese army in peacetime. Therefore, Bao Sen finally judged that this was a puppet cavalry transferred from the puppet army under the banner of the Japanese.
So Bao Sen immediately began to strategize, after the study of the team's terrain, he judged that the Japanese army was ready to enter the Panshan Mountains to sweep, so Baicaowa became the only way for these Japanese troops.
The terrain of Baicaowa is relatively special, it belongs to two mountains and a ditch, it is a good place to ambush, if you set up an ambush here, wait for the Japanese cavalry to enter the ravine, and then launch an attack is to close the door and fight the dogs.
Figure 6 Bao Sen immediately put his four companies with a total of more than 700 soldiers, all of whom were put into battle. He divided the four companies into three parts, personally led the elite troops to cut off the retreat of the Japanese army, and the remaining two parts were ambushed on the small hillsides on both sides of the white grass valley to flank the attack.
But what Bao Sen didn't expect was that the Takeshima Brigade was not a puppet army under combat effectiveness, but a genuine elite of the Japanese army. The leading officer Takeshima was more vigilant, and after leaving the city, he sent several sharp soldiers to constantly reconnoiter the surroundings, and the Japanese cavalry was well-equipped and experienced in combat, and soon they found two soldiers of the Eighth Route and killed them.
At this time, Wu Dao had already sensed that on the way to this sweep, there might be an ambush by the Eighth Route Army, but he was arrogant, thinking that he was born in a samurai aristocratic family and led an elite Japanese army, so he did not take the Eighth Route Army in his eyes and continued to lead the cavalry troops forward.
At about 5 o'clock in the morning, this Japanese army came to Baicaowa and saw the Japanese army entering the ambush circle, Bao Sen immediately ordered to eliminate these Japanese devils!
Figure 7 There was a burst of gunfire for a while, and many arrogant Japanese cavalrymen were shot and fell off their horses. Takeshima was also stunned by the sudden ambush, and he reacted quickly and immediately jumped off his horse to dodge in all directions.
But at this time, Wu Dao still thought that even if he was ambushed, he could lead the elite Japanese army, and there was no need to panic in the face of the Eighth Route Army, which was relatively backward in equipment.
So he only sent a person back to Jixian County to move the rescue troops, and he continued to lead the troops to reorganize the formation, and began to move to the west side of the dirt hill where the slope was gentler and convenient for the cavalry to attack, he thought that as long as he commanded properly, he could wait for the reinforcements to come, and then cooperate with the reinforcements, and he could in turn wipe out the ambushed Eighth Route Army.
This ambush battle turned into an encounter. At this time, Bao Sen also discovered that the enemy who was ambushed on the opposite side was not a puppet army, but an elite Japanese army with strong combat effectiveness.
But by this time, the two sides were already standing together, and Bao Sen knew that the Japanese reinforcements might arrive soon, and if they could not completely annihilate this Japanese army, then the whole team would be in danger of being surrounded.
Figure 8 Bao Sen made up his mind and said to the people around him, think about the compatriots who were killed before, as the people's army, we must avenge them, even if the enemy is the elite Japanese army now, as long as we carry forward the tenacious fighting spirit of not afraid of sacrifice, we will definitely be able to defeat the other side.
The fighters received encouragement from the deputy commander and rushed to kill. Even if many soldiers were wounded in battle, they could not stay in the line of fire and continued to stick to their combat posts.
There are also fighters who constantly move to change their positions, constantly throwing grenades to hit the enemy, and Bao Sen also seized the opportunity to let the scouts rush to the commanding heights in the south of the battlefield to observe and report the enemy's movements.
While taking advantage of the familiarity with the terrain and constantly deploying troops to change the firing points, it is imperative to resolutely carry forward our army's spirit of not being afraid of fatigue and fighting tenaciously, and completely annihilate this arrogant Japanese cavalry.
Figure 9 and many people in the vicinity had already learned that Commander Bao Sen led a team to attack the Japanese Takeshima squadron, and they also spontaneously rushed to the scene, carrying stretchers to transport the wounded and bringing water and food to the troopsMany people also took the initiative to climb to the nearby mountains to take on the task of monitoring the enemy's movements, and reported to the troops in a timely manner when they discovered the movement line.
Although Takeshima had a strong command ability and a high combat ability of the Japanese cavalry under his command, he was besieged in the ravine by the heroic Eighth Route Army at this time, and he could not break through the siege by rushing left and right.
After thinking about it, Wu Dao ordered the troops to assemble and move quickly to occupy a nearby Shandong, and he asked the troops to resist the attack of the Eighth Route Army, and at the same time selected a few cronies to stay by his side, and left the large army to escape at any time when the preparation was not right.
Bao Sen was keenly aware of Takeshima's movements, so he ordered the soldiers to use the terrain to charge repeatedly in batches, and at the same time sent a team to flank and tightly encircle the Japanese army from several directions.
Figure 10 at the same time singled out more than 20 fighters with good shooting and bomb throwing skills, moved to the side to the closest position to the enemy, fired from different directions, blocked and suppressed the enemy's fire, covered the remaining fighters, quickly attacked and approached, threw grenades to attack the enemy.
Wu Dao was desperate, he frantically ordered the soldiers to resist desperately, and he rode on war horses with a few cronies, preparing to take the opportunity to break through and escape, and the commandos of the Eighth Route Army found Wu Dao and immediately rushed to it. This executioner of the Japanese invasion of China, who had commanded many sweeps, was beaten into a sieve on the spot, and the soldiers under Takeshima lost their backbone and had no one to command, and began to be beaten passively.
By more than four o'clock in the afternoon, the Japanese army was completely annihilated by the Eighth Route Army, and when cleaning the battlefield, the soldiers found the body of Wu Dao and captured some **.
But at this time, Bao Sen found that many of the captured ** could not be used, because the Wudao Cavalry was an elite unit under the Japanese army, which was deeply poisoned by the Japanese fascists and would be destroyed before being annihilated**, and finally one of the three light machine guns captured by the Eighth Route Army was destroyed, and nearly twenty of more than 50 rifles were also destroyed.
Figure 11 After the killing of Takeshima, the myth of the invincibility of the Japanese army in North China was completely shattered. The news that the elite Japanese cavalry was completely wiped out by the Eighth Route Army spread all around.
Everyone found that the arrogant Japanese army was nothing more than that, and the so-called "Imperial Japanese Army" would eventually be completely annihilated in the face of the heroic soldiers of the Eighth Route Army, so this battle completely boosted the morale of the anti-Japanese army and people, and set off a new upsurge of resistance against Japan and national salvation in the eastern Hebei region.
Bao Sen, who commanded this battle, was only 29 years old at this time, and after the battle, the Japanese puppet army in the entire eastern Hebei region was frightened, and did not dare to launch any sweep to the Panshan area for several years, and did not dare to abuse and bully the people in the occupied areas at will.
At the same time, the victory in this battle consolidated the anti-Japanese base areas in eastern and western Hebei from Fengluan to Panshan in Jixian County, united several small anti-Japanese base areas in eastern Hebei, and also made the anti-Japanese situation develop better.
Figure 12 In the spirit of humanitarianism, Bao Sen arranged for the soldiers to notify the Japanese puppet army in Jixian County to come to collect the bodies of the Japanese soldiers who were killed, among which three Japanese soldiers were wounded and lay in the depths of the cave and pretended to be dead, and were not found by the Eighth Route Army.
Among the three surviving Japanese soldiers was the veteran who came to mourn Bao Sen in 1951. This man was frightened in this battle, and when he saw that all the people around him were killed by the heroic Eighth Route Army, he and two other seriously wounded companions were left behind, and began to doubt the future of Japanese militarism, and also developed a fear of the Eighth Route Army.
Later, because he was seriously injured and unfit for service, he was transferred back to China, and at this time he learned that it was General Bao Sen who led the Eighth Route Army to beat him. However, two years later, in February 1942, when he was leading his troops to be stationed in the northwest mountains of Zunhua, he was suddenly attacked by the Japanese army and the puppet army.
Figure 13: General Bao Sen personally commanded the battle on the front line, but unfortunately died of a bullet in the chest at the age of 31. And his sacrifice was also a great loss to the Anti-Japanese War and the Chinese people.
Fifty years later, the surviving Japanese soldier had also become an old man, at this time China had won the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression for more than 40 years, and Sino-Japanese relations had long been normalized, this veteran of the Japanese army felt guilty about the harm he had caused to China in those years, and he also had lingering fears about General Bao Sen's annihilation of his own unit, so he came to China to meet General Bao Sen and wanted to see the people who beat him at the beginning before he died.
When he came to China and went to Jixian in Tianjin, he was told that two years after his defeat, General Bao Sen had died on the battlefield, and he was silent for a long time, and then he made a wreath, called himself the bird that frightened the bow and the fish that slipped through the net, and took this wreath to pay homage to General Bao Sen.
And the legend of General Bao Sen's heroic battle, also let him go down in history, forever commemorated by the people, Yan'an "Liberation **" evaluation of General Bao Sen's outstanding military exploits and heroic spirit, forever in the memory of the people!
