Recently, the actions of the Ukrainian authorities are jaw-dropping: they have even begun to recruit women into the army to make up for the lack of troops. This practice not only seriously violates the principle of gender equality, but also violates the ethics of war.
First of all, let us be clear: gender equality is not an empty slogan, but a basic bottom line that every country and every society should adhere to. In war, men and women should have equal rights and opportunities, rather than being forced to take on different responsibilities. The inclusion of women in the conscription by the Ukrainian authorities is undoubtedly a blatant challenge to this principle. They seem to have forgotten that women are human beings and have the right to choose freely, and should not be forced to go to the front line to endure the cruelty of war.
Second, is it a violation of the ethics of war to put women in front-line areas? This is a question that does not need to be answered. Women already face more risks and challenges in war, including sexism, committing heinous crimes such as sexism. Don't the Ukrainian authorities know about this? Don't they care about women's rights and safety? This kind of disregard and trampling on women's rights and interests is simply an extreme insult to the morality of war.
Of course, the Ukrainian authorities also have their own bitterness. In the face of a military conflict with Russia, the Ukrainian army is indeed facing the dilemma of insufficient troops. However, this does not mean that they can sacrifice gender equality and the morality of war for a momentary victory. Such an approach will only cause Ukraine to lose more respect and trust in the international community.
We must be soberly aware that the inclusion of women in military recruitment is not the fundamental solution to the problem. On the contrary, this practice will only cause more social problems and moral controversy. We should encourage women to play to their strengths and roles and be able to play their part in all fields. Instead of treating them as victims of war, and making them suffer pain and suffering that did not belong to them.
In conclusion, the Ukrainian authorities' practice of arresting women into the army is extremely wrong and immoral. We should firmly oppose such actions that violate gender equality and the ethics of war and call on the Ukrainian authorities to reconsider their decisions. At the same time, we should also strengthen publicity and education on gender equality and the ethics of war, so that more people can realize the seriousness and urgency of these problems.
