XR industry pioneer HTC Vive is opening pre-orders for its new VIVE Full Face Recognition Tracker after the VIVE Self-Positioning Tracker takes full-body tracking and object tracking to the next level. The accessory is a plug-and-play external module that enables face and mouth tracking in the VIVE XR Elite with a simple USB-C connection.
Shen Ye, Global Product Owner of HTC VIVE, said: "By producing more natural and realistic avatars, VIVE Full Face Recognition Tracker can better help animators and researchers, and effectively improve the level of application in scenarios such as training and education, healthcare, etc. In the past, we've seen eye and face tracking bring extraordinary experiences to games and other VR applications. Therefore, we built the VIVE Full Face Recognition Tracker with the help of the Vive W**e platform, and at the same time supports OpenXR, making the development process very simple. That's why any feature built for Vive Focus 3 eye and face tracking is compatible with the tracker. ”
The new VIVE Full Face Recognition Tracker brings extraordinary immersion to VR, capturing natural, subtle facial expressions for virtual environments, games, motion capture, research, training, and more.
Not only does the tracker allow users to express emotions naturally in a VR experience, but it also captures up to 38 blends of the user's lips, teeth, tongue, cheeks, nose, and chin at a 60 Hz tracking rate, accurately representing the most subtle facial expressions, matched to the verbal expression in real time.
The VIVE Full Face Recognition Tracker can track eye movements at 120 frames per second. It is also equipped with a new auto-calibration function, which intelligently detects the user's interpupillary distance (IPD) and automatically calibrates the headset to ensure a comfortable and clear visual experience. This feature allows multiple users to use a headset without having to manually adjust the IPD each time. Of course, users can still adjust the diopter directly on the VIVE XR Elite Package to ensure crisp visuals.
