The documentary "Dahomey" revolves around France's 2021 return of 26 precious cultural relics from the Republic of Benin, which were looted to France by French colonists from what was then the Kingdom of Dahomey.
South Korean director Hong Sang-so's film "The Traveler's Demand" won the Silver Bear at this year's jury award. Dominican director Nelson Arias won the Silver Bear for Best Director for "Pepe." American actor Sebastian Stan, who was once famous for his role as the "Winter Soldier" in Marvel movies, won the Silver Bear for Best Lead Actor for the film "A Different Man". British actress Emily Watson won the Silver Bear for Best Supporting Actor for "Little Things Like This", which opened at this year's Berlin Film Festival.
In addition, the Silver Bear Award was awarded to the film "Empire", the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay was won by German screenwriter and director Matthias Glasner, and the Austrian photographer Martin Kschlacht was awarded the Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Contribution.
The Berlinale organizers also previously announced that the "Honorary Golden Bear" of this year's festival lifetime achievement award will be awarded to American director, producer and screenwriter Martin Scorsese.
The 74th Berlin International Film Festival opened on the 15th and will last until the 25th, with a total of 20 films shortlisted for the main competition unit. Due to cost reasons, the scale of this year's festival has been significantly reduced, and the number of films screened has dropped to about 200, a decrease of more than 30% compared with the previous year.
