The new round of Palestinian-Israeli conflict, which has lasted for months, has killed nearly 30,000 civilians and left nearly 2 million** people in their homes. On this occasion, the 55th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council opened in Geneva, Switzerland, on the 26th, and delegates from various countries will examine, discuss and address the issue of "human rights", which is closely related to everyone on the planet.
The United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. More than 70 years have passed, and the world is still in a state of injustice, intolerance and instability, and the development of the world's human rights cause and global human rights governance are facing severe challenges. It is the common responsibility of the international community to protect the human rights of every nation and every person in a fair, equal, effective manner.
To realize the vision of "human rights for all", all countries should practice true multilateralism, uphold democracy and equality, and promote global human rights governance in a more fair, just, reasonable and inclusive direction. Relying on their control of a strong voice and their dominance in multilateral human rights institutions, some Western countries have instigated confrontation and war, created a large number of humanitarian crises, and violated the human rights and well-being of innocent people, while empowering themselves, criticizing the human rights situation of other countries at every turn, illegally imposing unilateral sanctions on other countries, manipulating human rights issues to conduct bloc confrontation and political suppression. These chaos tortures the conscience of mankind and erodes the fundamental values of human rights.
At the same time, the international influence of developing countries is rising, and there are growing calls for greater voice and representativeness, as well as for participating in the transformation of the global human rights governance structure. As the leading force in the global multilateral cooperative governance of human rights, the United Nations human rights bodies should carry out their work in a fair and objective manner, uphold the principles of non-selectivity and non-politicization, and become a platform for all countries, big or small, strong or weak, rich or poor, to participate in the construction of the best flow and cooperation on an equal footing, rather than a battlefield for bloc politics and bloc confrontation.
In his opening remarks, President Francis of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly listed a series of regional conflicts and humanitarian crises and urged all parties to build the Human Rights Council as a platform for resolving issues through dialogue and cooperation. Speaking at the opening ceremony, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Türk said that the full and equal participation of all countries in global governance should be guaranteed.
In order to realize the vision of "human rights for all", all countries should oppose the pursuit of hegemonism and power politics, defend fairness and justice, and prevent "human rights" from becoming a political tool. For a long time, some Western countries have mixed political factors and double standards on the human rights issue, ignoring their own domestic human rights issues on the one hand, and interfering in other countries' internal affairs and curbing their development under the guise of "human rights" on the other. The United States, which has always regarded itself as a "defender of human rights", has disregarded the lives of the people in Gaza, and has not only repeatedly blocked the adoption of the draft resolution calling for a ceasefire by the Security Council, but has also continued to provide arms assistance to Israel. Since 2001, unlawfully waged wars and military operations have killed more than 800,000 people and displaced tens of millions; They have spread lies and disinformation, and have repeatedly used human rights issues to interfere in suppressing and curbing the ...... developing countriesIn this way, the United States has turned a blind eye to its own serious human rights violations, such as gun violence, racial discrimination, and refugees at the border. Facts have proven that this kind of double-standard behavior of politicizing, instrumentalizing, and politicizing human rights issues is completely unpopular.
Stackberg, president of the Geneva Society, said that human rights and their basic principles, which should be one of the key forces that unite humanity, are increasingly becoming an ideological tool used by Western countries to suppress developing countries. In his opening remarks, UN Secretary-General António Guterres said that the protection of human rights is the cornerstone of peace, and that the path to peace begins with full respect for all human rights, including economic, social, cultural and political rights, and the rejection of double standards.
In order to realize the vision of "human rights for all", all countries should adhere to inclusiveness and mutual learning, mutual respect and equal exchanges, and jointly promote the development and progress of human rights civilization. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights advocates openness, inclusiveness, mutual learning among civilizations, and one of the important principles in the field of international human rights is the principle of non-discrimination. Human rights are historical, concrete, and realistic, and the history, culture, social system, and stage of development of human rights vary from country to country, and the development of human rights must be based on their own national conditions and the needs of the people, and the right of all countries to independently choose the path of human rights development must be respected. The choice of a country's human rights construction lies with the people of that country, and the judge can only be the people of that country, not the "teachers" of other countries. There is no one-size-fits-all path for human rights development in the world, and all countries should strive to be inclusive, harmonious and diverse, so as to achieve a common beauty through inclusiveness and mutual learning.
As a responsible major country, China has put forward the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, advocating the protection of human rights through security, the promotion of human rights through development and the promotion of human rights through cooperation. Over the years, while making historic achievements in its own human rights cause, China has continuously consolidated the foundation for the development of global human rights protection, guarded the security environment for global human rights protection, defended the fairness and justice of global human rights governance, and promoted exchanges and mutual learning among different human rights civilizations. At the beginning of this year, the 45th session of the UN Human Rights Council's Country Human Rights Review Working Group unanimously approved China's participation in the fourth round of country human rights review report, and more than 120 countries positively appraised the progress of Chinese's human rights cause, and many countries expressed their expectation that China would play a leading role in global human rights governance and safeguard international fairness and justice.
At a time when the global human rights governance deficit is becoming increasingly serious, all countries should work together to uphold the common human values of peace, development, fairness, justice, democracy and freedom, safeguard human dignity and rights, promote the development of global human rights governance in a more fair, just, reasonable and inclusive direction, and jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind and create a better future for the world.
