As the saying goes, "* leads to the door, and the practice depends on the individual", and studying Chinese medicine is no exception. In particular, those who have decided to use TCM practitioners to realize their dream of practicing medicine legally, should cherish the opportunity to follow a teacher.
Although the opportunity to follow the teacher is precious, there are also some problems that plague these people who study medicine, such as many people who study with teachers are working people, their time with teachers is not very controllable, people who go to school have classes to attend, and people who go to work do not have time to go every day, but Chinese medicine is to learn from teachers, can they use fragmented time to learn? Of course, let's take a look at how to follow the TCM practitioner.
First, why do you want to follow a teacher? Give yourself answers to the questions you have in your learning process
Before talking about how to follow a teacher, let's first understand "why follow a teacher"?
Let me ask you a question first: If you don't have a medical degree, can't you apply for the TCM practitioner exam? Of course, you can apply for the exam, and you can take the college entrance examination again. Regardless of whether it is a specialist or an undergraduate, only those who are admitted to the full-time clinical major of Chinese medicine in colleges and universities are eligible to apply for the Chinese medicine practitioner examination.
However, how many people can break their wrists and re-take the college entrance examination? Those who have already gone to work can't, those who have already gone to school can't, and students who can't get into a junior college or undergraduate can't.
So, why do you want to follow a teacher? Because this is a preferential policy for the medicine of the motherland, a new policy road opened by the state for the medicine of the motherland, and a research method for the certification of the National Physician Law. Western medicine has no similar policy, you have to stay in the hospital for many years to get ahead, although Chinese medicine is not easy to learn, but we have more opportunities to change our future!
Why follow a teacher? Not only can you gain an experienced, qualified and knowledgeable teacher, but also enter the threshold of the Chinese medicine industry, open up the network of the Chinese medicine community, so that there are people to ask about Chinese medicine, and let the questions in your learning process have answers. What's more, you have the opportunity to take the TCM Practitioner Certificate.
Second,Preparation before following the teacherWhat is it? The word "diligence" should be the first word
First of all, we must be mentally prepared to endure hardships, sometimes with the teacher for half a day, the number of people reaches 40 50 people, overtime is commonplace; From the writing of the case, to the completion of the four diagnoses of looking, smelling, asking, and cutting, to the recording of the final prescription, every link must be fully devoted, and it is difficult to persevere without the spirit of hardship. Therefore, the word "diligence" should be the first word.
The second is to do a good job of pre-studying. The ancients said that "review the old and learn the new", and the teacher must review the prescriptions and Chinese medicine or the relevant books of the teacher's main direction before the teacher, especially the commonly used prescriptions must be familiar with the chest.
As the saying goes, the prescription is like a general, the medicine is like a soldier, the prescription is not familiar, don't say that you consider the prescription alone, even the teacher's prescription has been issued and I don't know what trick (a certain main prescription), so it is difficult to keep up with the teacher's thinking and the rhythm of seeing a doctor, and it is difficult to reach the realm of "heart and soul" with the teacher.
This requires us to raise soldiers for a thousand days (familiar with the prescription medicine) before we can use the soldiers for a while. Mr. Peng has memorized more than 3,000 recipes, and Mr. Xiong Moubai is over sixty years old and can still memorize "Medical Sect Jinjian". This is true of all Chinese medicine practitioners, let alone us beginners.
Third, do I need to follow the teacher every day? Of course not
There is no need to go every day, which is the main advantage of TCM practitioners. As long as you can comply with the policy regulations this year, and have enough class hours, clinical cases, and the accumulation of notes with the teacher, you only need to go a few times a week, communicate well with the teacher, and go to the teacher at a suitable time for both parties. In this way, not only will it not affect the usual classes and work, but you can also make full use of your spare time, learn Chinese medicine well, and embark on the road of Chinese medicine!
Some students are full-time teachers, because these students may have saved a lot of savings from their previous jobs, and they found a well-known local teacher, not only the teacher was willing to let him go every day, but the hospital also agreed to follow him for a long time, so he resigned to follow the teacher full-time. If this is the case, he will go to the hospital early in the morning, like other TCM students who follow the teacher, follow the clinic and copy the prescription, and go to the clinic to follow the teacher to make rounds and listen to the teacher's lectures.
The advantage of this is that this student has accumulated tens of thousands of medical records during his time with the teacher, and the prescription prescribed has already made the teacher more satisfied. But note that although he has really learned a lot, he actually does not have any income from his teacher, and if the financial conditions do not allow it, it is best not to easily follow the teacher full-time.
Therefore, this student is only an example, and I do not recommend you to refer to it. It is best to work hard to learn from the teacher for three years, and work hard to get the certificate as soon as possible.
Third, what are the essentials of following a teacher? Be diligent in your hands, pen and think
First, be diligent in your hands. The emphasis here is on the hands-on ability of Chinese medicine, that is, the exercise of Chinese medicine to see, smell, ask and cut.
In the visit, Mr. Peng often said: women have dark complexions, full of spots, and are not ** chronic inflammation, which is an endogenous mass.
For pulse diagnosis, it is better to be careful in clinical practice, and it is best to carry out it under the guidance of teachers with rich experience in pulse cutting, starting from several common and simple pulses such as floating, sinking, counting, late, stringing, thin, and flood pulses, and focusing on mastering the characteristics of pulses. For example, the floating vein is characterized by superficial and light extraction, which reflects the location of the disease on the surface. Secondly, learning to cut the pulse is like playing ball, emphasizing the "feel", you must persevere, often and consciously train, over time, you will understand.
In addition, the consultation is skillful, and to learn from the teacher, you must learn the methods and skills of the teacher's consultation. When I first started clinical practice, I often followed the method of Western medicine to ask for medical history, but after asking, my mind was at a loss, and I needed to imitate the teacher's consultation frequently to have an experience.
Second, we must be diligent in writing. The principle of recording is to be as detailed as possible, including the tongue and pulse, for later reference. Some common diseases can be recorded simply, and difficult and rare diseases should be recorded in detail. Doing a good job of medical records is the best way to collect raw data, whenever I encounter a difficult disease in my clinical practice, I always revisit the previously recorded medical records several times, and often find some good solutions.
Third, we must be diligent in thinking. In the outpatient clinic, you should ask about the medical history carefully, cut the pulse attentively, and record and think about the teacher's prescription attentively. After the four diagnoses, what is considered is: what is the syndrome type of the disease, what main prescription should be used, and how to add or subtract. Then see if it is consistent with the teacher's syndrome differentiation ideas and whether the prescription is the same.
If it is the same, then you know that your dialectical thinking is basically the same as that of the teacher, if it is not the same, you should consider your own gap in the **, please ask the teacher to guide the maze. Finally, don't be afraid to talk to your teacher!
Fourth, if I don't have 3 years of local teaching, can I go to other places? Absolutely
Due to policy reasons, even if they know the policy, many areas have not opened up for various reasons, such as never handled it before, such as local TCM teachers who cannot meet the conditions for mentorship, which are all possible. Therefore, if there is no 3-year or 5-year mentorship policy in the local area, you can go to other places to follow the teacher.
It doesn't matter where the TCM practitioner and the student's household registration are. TCM physicians do not look at the student's household registration book, do not care about the student's household registration, and completely depends on where the teacher practices, where he works, and where he teaches.
If someone is in Fujian and goes to school in Tianjin, and the teacher is looking for Tianjin, he can apply for a TCM practitioner in Tianjin; Some people live in Liaoning but work in Jilin, so they can also learn locally in the place of work, and they don't need to go home to follow the teacher. You can go to other places, and wherever you look for a teacher, you can follow the teacher.
Fifth, what is the pass rate of the teacher exam? It's pretty tall overall
Guizhou Province: 100% pass probability of mentorship. In 2022, only 1 person registered for the teacher examination, and 1 person passed the assessment, with a pass rate of 100%, and no candidate applied for the teacher examination in 2023.
Anhui Province: The probability of passing the teacher is about 43%. Through the qualification review, clinical practice skills assessment and comprehensive written examination of the expired teachers, 35 people including Hou Zhifeng, who have passed the assessment examination, are now publicized (see annex). According to incomplete statistics, the pass rate of this assessment is 43%.
From the above data, it can be seen that the probability of passing the exam is not low, because the questions are more basic, as long as the students study carefully during the period of learning and make up for the basic knowledge of Chinese medicine, I believe that it is not difficult to pass the exam. On the other hand, if you don't study at all, you will take the exam directly, and it will be difficult to take the test no matter what.
Therefore, it is not as difficult as you imagined to study with the teacher, and the same is true for exams. The 3 years of TCM practitioners are 3 years of laying the foundation and 3 years of accumulation, and many TCM students who have just graduated from the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine may not have the rich clinical experience of their classmates!
Seize the opportunity to learn from your teacher, study hard, and become a Chinese medicine practitioner! Legally practising, legally practicing medicine!
