On January 30, the finals of the 14th National Winter Games ski mountaineering event were contested in Jinlongshan Ski Resort, Zhalantun City, Hulunbuir. After the short-distance competition, the gold medalist of the National Winter Games of the project was born for the first time, Yuzhen Lam of the ** Autonomous Region team and Zhang Chenghao, an athlete trained by the cross-country skiing team of our city, won the gold medals in the women's and men's events respectively, filling the gold medal gap in the National Winter Games of the project. 
Ski mountaineering is a winter mountain outdoor sport based on snow mountain climbing and supplemented by skiing, which combines the characteristics of alpine exploration and skiing, and requires participants to have super physical fitness and superb snow mountain climbing and skiing skills. In July 2021, the 138th Session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) voted to approve ski mountaineering as an official sport for the 2026 Winter Olympics. The 14th National Winter Games set up a ski mountaineering event for the first time, and the event was benchmarked against the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, with a total of three gold medals in ski mountaineering men's and women's sprint and mixed relay, and 16 teams from all over the country participated in this competition. In this men's competition, Zhang Chenghao led all the way, from the qualifying round to the semifinals, and then to the finals, he was undisputed and ranked first and won the gold medal.
