Lin Boqu, as one of the five elders of Yan'an and a veteran of the party, enjoys high prestige. In 1956, in the election of the Eighth National Congress, he ranked third among the members of the National Congress with the third place in the votes, second only to *** and ***, surpassing *** and Mr. Zhu.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Lin Boqu served as the first secretary general and presided over the founding ceremony. However, in 1960, Lin Boqu unfortunately passed away due to illness at the age of 74. Surprisingly, the following year, his wife Zhu Ming chose to commit suicide.
Zhu Ming, formerly known as Wang Junbi, was born into a family of bureaucratic landlords, with a prominent family background, and his ancestors once managed warehouses for the Manchu royal family. During the Taiping Rebellion, the family was attacked by the Taiping army, and although the pillars were cut down, they were not collapsed, leaving a few knife marks, showing its solid material. Despite the gradual decline of his family's background, Zhu Ming was able to read Tang poetry at the age of 3, and even dabbled in "Dream of Red Mansions" at the age of 12.
She has extensively dabbled in piano, chess, calligraphy and painting, and has become a typical lady. During the Anti-Japanese War, Zhu Ming and his family fled to Sichuan, while Lin Boqu was engaged in ** work in Chongqing. Zhu Ming had listened to Lin Boqu's speech and had reverence for him.
In 1939, Zhu Ming came to Yan'an, the holy land of the revolution, after many hardships. Despite the hardships of life in Yan'an, Zhu Ming still firmly believed in the truth and was determined to go to Yan'an. As soon as she arrived in Yan'an, she even changed her name from Wang Junbi to Zhu Ming.
Under the careful guidance of Lin Boqu, Zhu Ming gradually embarked on the journey of revolution and tied the knot with Lin Boqu in 1945. At that time, Lin Boqu was 59 years old, and Zhu was only 26 next year, and the difference between the two was 33 years old.
However, age is not an obstacle to the marriage. Although Lin Boqu was old and physically tired, Zhu Ming took care of him wholeheartedly. Their married life is full of love and thoughtfulness, and they welcome happy days together.
Zhu Ming gradually transformed from a lady in a big feudal family to a staunch revolutionary, and this change is inseparable from Lin Boqu's words and deeds. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Lin Boqu had a lofty status, and Zhu Ming also enjoyed a happy life.
In the early 50s, Lin Boqu's physical condition deteriorated, and he went to the USSR to recuperate with *** approval. Zhu Ming accompanied Lin Boqu to spend a comfortable and pleasant time, enjoying ballet classics and visiting various museums and memorials.
However, as time went on, Lin Boqu's health gradually deteriorated. Zhu Ming's care for him is more nuanced and personally checks the diet. Zhu Ming especially instructed the staff to pay attention to the chief's old age and frailty, poor stomach, and hemorrhoids, so they should avoid greasy and hard dishes in their diet, and try to make meatballs or chop them into pureed sauce.
Zhu Ming often recounted the glorious history of Lin Boqu and showed deep admiration for this husband. However, in May 1960, a sudden heart attack caused Lin Boqu to pass away, which dealt a heavy blow to Zhu Ming. Faced with this bad news, she was almost on the verge of collapse.
In Lin Boqu's office, Zhu Ming often spent long hours alone, sometimes for as long as two or three hours, and she became a completely different person, deaf to any persuasion.
Even at Lin Boqu's funeral, she opposed cremation and insisted on a burial, on the grounds that Lin Lao had been a member of the League and the Kuomintang, and his status was complicated and should be handled flexibly. Yang Shangkun personally carried out ideological work and finally persuaded Zhu Ming to agree to be cremated.
After Lin Boqu's death, Zhu Ming hung a colorful ink painting in the reception room, about 2 meters high and more than 1 meter wide, which was larger than his real body.
She had been advised that it was too big, a little too coercive. However, Zhu Ming firmly believes that there are great benefits, because in this way she can see her husband's portrait up close every day.
However, unexpectedly, in 1961, Zhu Ming suddenly chose to commit suicide. Behind her death, the reasons are mysterious. Since Lin Boqu's death, Zhu Ming's mental condition has been poor.
In 1954, ** received an anonymous letter revealing some of the inglorious history. The truth of the anonymous letter surfaced after 7 years of investigation and confirmed that it was written by Zhu Ming, who also admitted it and quickly chose to commit suicide.
However, the ** Organization Department later rehabilitated Zhu Ming and restored her reputation, and pointed out that there was no error in the content of her anonymous letter about **.
