The Lianhua Temple, which was tragically destroyed by fire in October 2019, has been rebuilt and opened on January 4 as Las Vegas Buddhist Temple and Asian Cultural Center.
Founded in 1989 by Resident Venerable Huiguang, Lianhua Temple in Las Vegas has been promoting Humanistic Buddhism in Nevada for more than three decades.
A year and a half after the fire, the devout Buddha ** Mr. Zhou Chaosen introduced the abbot Venerable Huiguang, the superintendent Venerable Yin Jian, and the ministry Venerable Manjing to two famous philanthropistsNewman Arndt and MrJohnathon Arndt recognized. The two were moved by the story of Lianhua Temple, and after learning that the temple was in financial difficulties, they took the initiative to fund the reconstruction of the temple, and even practiced it as volunteer designers.
The two philanthropists decided to build not only the new Buddha hall, but also the Asian Cultural Centre, where people of different cultures, religions, races and ages can learn and communicate with each other and spread the wisdom of Buddhism to a global audience. After more than two years of construction, the new temple was finally completed and opened.
In the future, the Asian Cultural Center will develop various educational and charitable work, and set up education** to provide scholarships to students from all over the world, so that the younger generation can have more opportunities to get in touch with Asian culture. In addition, the Centre will collaborate with charities in various countries, including orphanages, food banks and animal rescue centres, to serve the needy.
