On February 18, Meizu announced that it would stop the development of new projects for traditional smartphones. Meizu officials pointed out that the mobile phone market is facing challenges, such as the extension of the replacement cycle, limited consumer innovation and vicious competition, relying solely on hardware upgrades can no longer meet the needs of users, and the industry needs to explore new sustainable development paths.

Meizu has made a strategic shift to fully embrace AI. The company decided to stop the development of new projects for traditional smartphones and instead focus on the development of tomorrow's devices for AI for new generations. Through three years of careful layout and technology accumulation, Meizu plans to gradually realize the vision of fully turning to AI.

It is expected that by 2024, Meizu will launch a new mobile operating system designed for the AI era, laying a solid foundation for the infrastructure of the AI era. In addition, Meizu's first AI Device hardware product will also be released this year, and it plans to compete directly with the world's leading AI Device manufacturers.

Meizu emphasized that during the transition period to full AI, the user experience and services of the original Meizu Flyme, Flyme Auto, Flyme AR, MyVu, Pandaer and Wujie Zhixing services will remain unaffected. Meizu mobile phone products on sale will continue to provide users with normal software and hardware maintenance. Users who have purchased the Meizu 20 series and Meizu 21 flagship phones will still enjoy the original after-sales and related service guarantees.

In March 2023, Xingji Times and Meizu Technology merged to form Xingji Meizu Group, with Shen Ziyu as chairman and CEO. At the press conference for the establishment of Meizu Group, Shen Ziyu made it clear that the group will be committed to comprehensive innovation in the field of consumer electronics, eliminating the boundaries between smart devices such as mobile phones, XR, operating systems, chips, and automobiles, and promoting the deep integration and coordinated development of consumer electronics and the automotive industry.
