Thailand ranks first on Airbnb for Chinese tourists' travel intentions and sixth in the world's best travel destinations in 2024
According to authoritative data from Airbnb, a world-renowned short-term rental booking platform, Thailand topped the list of top overseas travel destinations for Chinese tourists in the winter quarter of 2023 (i.e., between December and February), demonstrating its popularity and attractiveness as a popular travel hotspot. During this period, Thailand successfully welcomed more than 3.5 million tourists from China, ranking first in the number of searches on Airbnb and sixth in the World's Best Places to Visit in 2024 published by The Telegraph, further cementing its leading position in the international travel market.
Specifically, several cities in Thailand are among the top 20 most popular winter travel destinations for Chinese tourists on the Airbnb platform. Thailand was followed by Japan, New Zealand, Australia, the United States, Malaysia, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, Norway and South Korea as the most popular destinations for Chinese travelers on Airbnb.
In addition, five cities in Thailand are among the top 20 most popular cities in the world. During this winter, Thai cities performed well among the top search destinations on Airbnb for Chinese users, ranking as follows:
Phuket topped the list, topping the search list.
Bangkok is a close second.
Chiang Mai jumped to seventh place due to its unique charm.
Koh Samui managed to make it into the top 10, occupying 10th place.
Pattaya also showed strong traction, coming in at 12th place.
