Why we hate communicating with our parents

There are several factors involved in hating communicating with parents:

Generation gap: Parents and children have differences in age, background, and growth environment, which may lead to conflicts in their values, concepts, and communication styles, and it is difficult to understand each other's thoughts and opinions.

Different expectations and pressures: Parents often have certain expectations for their children, hoping that they will do well in their studies, careers, marriages, etc. This expectation and pressure can lead to children feeling pressured to communicate and afraid to take responsibility for failure or disappointment.

Lack of common topics and interests: Due to differences in age and interests, parents and children may lack common topics and interests, making it difficult to find common ground for communication, resulting in communication difficulties.

Emotional conflict and poor parent-child relationship: There are poor parent-child relationships, emotional conflicts, or arguments in the family, which can make communication a painful experience, and children emotionally choose to avoid or resist communication with their parents.

Despite the above issues, communicating with parents is an important interpersonal skill that has many positive effects. Establishing good communication channels can increase mutual understanding, trust and support, help solve problems and build more harmonious relationships. Therefore, despite the possible difficulties, we need to try to overcome obstacles and establish positive communication styles to improve our relationship with our parents.
