Meta applied to Apple to use the Quest as an AirPlay receiver

Quest users may soon be able to transfer Air** content from their iPhone to the Meta Quest headset. The vice president of Meta VR recently posted that the company is "asking Apple to allow the Quest to be an AirPlay adapter."

As UploadVR discovered, there are users who spit on the Meta Quest side of the Netflix, Disney+, and Prime Video apps that don't support offline**: Why can't we at least allow our Quest 2 to air** the content of the iPhone? This will make the flying experience even better. ”

Mark Rabkin, VP of Meta VR, responded: "I'm absolutely willing to do that – we're asking Apple to allow the Quest to be an AirPlay receiver. ”

If Apple approves Meta's request to turn the Quest into an AirPlay receiver, users will be able to send content from their iPhone or iPad to their Meta Quest display.

For Meta Quest users, this sounds like a great solution.

Vision Pro likewise lacks native apps for offline streaming services, such as YouTube. While not ideal, being able to ** the content to my iPhone and then use AirPlay to transfer that content to the Vision Pro would be a great workaround.

It's important to note that Netflix doesn't support AirPlay on iPhone. So, supporting AirPlay on Vision Pro or Meta Quest doesn't solve Netflix's problems.

Will Apple approve meta requests? At the moment, the company has not responded. Of course, Apple may reject this initiative because it launched Vision Pro and the two companies are competitors, and Apple will even veto this possibility of cooperation on unrelated technical grounds.
