In today's world, nuclear is considered the most destructive. At the beginning of the founding of the People's Republic of China, we did not have our own nuclear **. However, the Chinese did not back down from this.
After the withdrawal of Soviet specialists, we succeeded in creating our own atomic bomb on our own. Today, we want to talk about a person who made outstanding contributions to the manufacture of China's atomic bomb, his name is Zhang Yunyu, and he is China's first nuclear commander.
So, what are the fascinating stories about Zhang Yunyu?
Zhang Yunyu, born in Zanhuang County, Hebei Province in 1917, after the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War in 1937, he resolutely joined the Eighth Route Army and devoted himself to the arduous War of Resistance against Japan.
In the Shanxi-Hebei-Shandong-Henan Military Region and the Taihang Military Region, he fought bravely, led many anti-"sweeping" battles, and made major contributions to the consolidation and development of the anti-Japanese base areas behind enemy lines.
The victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression was due to his hard work and dedication. During the War of Liberation, Zhang Yunyu continued to fight for the cause of liberation, serving as deputy chief of staff of the 15th Army of the Second Field Army and other positions, and made hard efforts for the liberation of Henan and other regions.
The birth of the People's Republic of China also had his contribution. His deeds have deeply influenced and inspired future generations.
Zhang Yunyu was an outstanding general of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, who actively participated in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea after the founding of the People's Republic of China and served as chief of staff of the 15th Army of the Chinese People's Volunteers. On the Korean battlefield, he led his troops to show tenacious perseverance in the Battle of Shangganling and successfully won the battle.
This battle laid a solid foundation for the signing of the Korean Armistice Agreement. After returning to China, Zhang Yunyu continued to hold important positions in the Luda Defense Region and the Third Corps, leading the troops to garrison the Dalian area.
When he was awarded the title in 1955, he was awarded the rank of colonel at the age of 38 and became the founding colonel. His loyalty, bravery and wisdom have made great contributions to the development of the squadron.
After being awarded, Zhang Yunyu continued to stick to the mainland, and in 1958, the country decided to develop a nuclear bomb. Senior General Chen Geng recommended Zhang Yunyu to the relevant departments, and he accepted the important task of building a nuclear test base without hesitation.
After receiving the task, Zhang Yunyu did not stop, and immediately began to collect data and study relevant knowledge, so as to make full preparations for the construction of the nuclear test base.
In 1958, Zhang Yunyu was appointed as the director of the nuclear test range, and Soviet experts chose Dunhuang as the construction site of the shooting range. However, after in-depth investigation, Zhang Yunyu found that Dunhuang lacked water sources, and the scale of the shooting range was too small, and there were many limitations, so he put forward the opinion that Dunhuang was not suitable as a nuclear test range.
Zhang Yunyu reported the problem in a timely manner and suggested veto the construction of a nuclear test range in the Dunhuang area, which was approved by the superiors. The new test range was finally selected in Lop Nur.
Seeing the superior geographical location of Lop Nur, Zhang Yunyu said happily: "This is the feng shui treasure of the test range!" ”
General Zhang Yunyu led an army of 50,000 troops, and under the difficult conditions of Lop Nur, the construction of the nuclear test range began after the site selection was completed. They worked day and night, not only training Zhang Yunyu, but also promoting him to major general in 1961 and being appointed commander of the nuclear test base, becoming the first nuclear commander of the Republic.
Under the leadership of Zhang Yunyu, in December 1963, China successfully built a nuclear test base, laying a solid foundation for the successful test explosion of the atomic bomb in the future.
Zhang Yunyu has made outstanding contributions to the development of China's nuclear power, although we can summarize his great achievements in only a few words today, but at that time, he not only overcame a series of difficulties such as the lack of water sources and experts, but also needed to solve the mental pressure of scientific researchers and builders, and the degree of hardship is unimaginable.
But he still did a great job. It is precisely because of heroes like Zhang Yunyu that our country can stand tall among the nations of the world for a long time. In her later years, Zhang Yunyu mainly lived in Beijing and died of illness in 2008 at the age of 91.
