A few days ago, China's permanent representative to the United Nations urged the international community to promote a political solution to the crisis at a public meeting of the Security Council to consider the Ukraine issue. The Chinese side bluntly pointed out that the situation facing Europe today is closely related to NATO's repeated eastward expansion since the end of the Cold War. In addition, Western countries should adopt a responsible attitude and make constructive diplomatic efforts to promote the de-escalation and cooling of the situation, so as to create favorable opportunities for the resumption of peace talks.
Everyone knows that the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict has not only caused huge losses to Russia and Ukraine, but also brought severe challenges to the economic development environment and security of European countries. China, on the other hand, is neither a party to the conflict nor has sided with it, and has always conducted diplomatic mediation in an objective and impartial manner, bringing the two sides to the conflict sit down and negotiate in order to bring this protracted conflict to an early end.
Because the conflict between Russia and Ukraine is extensive, it is no less than a world war. All parties involved are not qualified enough to be mediators in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Therefore, looking at the whole world, China is the only one qualified to act as a mediator in terms of its position of international influence and its position in conflict. Therefore, when Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kubare met with his Chinese counterpart a few days ago, he hoped to develop close cooperative relations with China and hoped that China could play a constructive role in the political settlement of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
A few days ago, many Western countries launched "devastating" sanctions against Russia almost at the same time, but they are not sure what effect this kind of old-fashioned sanctions can achieve. Obviously, although Western countries cannot afford the reality of "letting Putin win", as far as the current situation of the Russia-Ukraine conflict is concerned, there are some objective realities, that is, they may have to swallow a cup of bitter wine. Because the conflict is indeed developing in a direction that is not in their favor, and if it continues to be carried to the death, Russia will not be able to defeat it, and the result may only be to inflict greater losses on the Western economy.
Therefore, it is not clear whether it is a coincidence or some kind of resonance with China's relevant appeal, although the West is still shouting "support for Ukraine", but in recent days, many of them seem to be pouring cold water on the Kyiv regime. First of all, the United States, not only the Republican-controlled House of Representatives refused to approve $60 billion in aid to Ukraine, in addition, US Secretary of Defense Supervisor Stocky said a few days ago that the United States has not formulated any plans to maintain the tanks, armored vehicles and air defense systems provided to Ukraine. In this regard, some US media claimed that the Pentagon's move will make Ukraine's effectiveness in using these equipment in combat face problems.
Not only the United States, but other NATO countries have recently poured cold water on Ukraine. Not only have they repeatedly reaffirmed the principle that "no troops will be sent to Ukraine", but they have also openly refused to allow Ukraine to join NATO. On the issue of military aid, even Germany, which has been most active in aiding Ukraine recently, has begun to "play tricks" with Ukraine. Although the country's parliament recently passed a resolution to continue to provide Ukraine with **, the "Taurus" long-range cruise missiles coveted by the Kyiv authorities are not on the aid list. Separately, at the voting session, a number of German parliamentarians called on the authorities not to provide ** to Ukraine, but to engage in a political dialogue with Russia to resolve the issue of the conflict as soon as possible.
Recently, NATO countries such as Germany, the United Kingdom, France and Italy have signed security agreements with Ukraine, in which they promised to provide Ukraine with assistance, including military training, in the next 10 years. However, Italy recently admitted that the security agreements signed by NATO countries with Ukraine are meaningless, because these agreements do not have the force of law and do not provide guarantees of political or military assistance. Obviously, these Western countries have drawn a big pie for Ukraine, and in the end, after the conflict is over, Ukraine may find out that this big pie is not edible.
In fact, the Russian-Ukrainian conflict has been fought for more than two years, and the West has given everything that should be given to Ukraine, and what should be sanctioned against Russia has also been sanctioned, but looking at the current performance of the Ukrainian army on the battlefield, who will think that there will be any miracle if they continue to support Ukraine? Therefore, in the relevant appeal of the Chinese representative at the United Nations, it is time for Western countries to consider resolving the issue of the conflict in Ukraine according to China's "prescription". Because although they don't care how many people die in Ukraine, everyone knows that if this conflict continues, Russia is still the nuclear power that can destroy the world, and the money that the West continues to invest is equivalent to wasting.
