The FH series is the iconic and most successful line of the Swedish Volvo Truck brand, with more than 400,000 units sold worldwide since its first generation in 1993 and twice named Truck of the Year Truck of the Year. To make the Volvo FH range more energy-efficient and cost-effective, the new FH Aero range has been added to the Volvo Truck range, which is more efficient and has an even better range.
Reducing CO2 emissions and improving transportation efficiency are the goals that many truck brands are committed to. Compared to the current Volvo FH model, the FH Aero is 24 centimetres longer forward through the cockpit and is designed at a slightly angled angle, combined with digital mirrors to reduce drag when the truck is moving. Volvo Truck says that this design will reduce fuel consumption and exhaust emissions by up to 5 percent for the FH Aero, which is a significant improvement for long-haul trucks.
Digital mirrors, which are already used by many truck brands, are also a major contributor to the Volvo FH Aero's ability to reduce energy consumption. Not only does it not have the huge area and air resistance of traditional mirrors, but the lens design also increases the driver's field of view and angle, effectively reducing the problem of blind spots around the vehicle, and the lens can automatically adjust to provide the clearest picture regardless of rain, darkness, tunnels or direct sunlight.
The Volvo FH Aero also features improved i-S**E technology with engine, turbo hybrid technology, i-see and i-shift transmission to save even more fuel, low-drag brake discs to improve braking power and reduce energy consumption, a new version of the infotainment that can be customized to suit individual needs, six premium speakers in the car to enhance the sound stage, a more truck-friendly navigation system, an integrated microwave oven, USB-C sockets and a new tyre monitoring system.
Continuing the Volvo FH's diverse powertrain architecture and the Truck of the Year 2024 FH Electric award, the Volvo FH Aero is available in different powertrain formats such as Diesel diesel, electric and gas powered. The Volvo FH16, which has the industry's highest horsepower of 780hp, is no short of them, and no matter which Volvo FH Aero customers choose, it will have lower energy consumption, longer range and a safer driving experience.
Improved aerodynamics also allow the Volvo FH Aero to coast even better, especially the all-electric FH Aero Electric, which is paired with the Kinetic Energy ** system, which feeds kinetic energy back into the battery when the vehicle is decelerating or descending hills, so that it can be used when accelerating or climbing. The all-new Volvo FH Aero transport truck will be available in various versions from 2024 to 2025, with different cockpits to choose from, depending on market demand.
