On August 4, 1949, the patriotic generals of the Kuomintang, Cheng Qian and Chen Mingren, made a wise choice, accepted our party's eight-point proposal for peace, and declared an uprising in Changsha. This event shocked the world and has far-reaching significance, and has also added an important stroke to the history of our country and the history of Hunan.

After Cheng Qian's death, his family made two requests to ***, thinking that he would agree, but he objected to the first request. So, what exactly is the reason for *** to refuse this request?

What kind of dealings do they have? Cheng Qian's relationship with *** can be traced back to ***'s youth. When the Wuchang Uprising broke out, ** became an ordinary soldier in the Hunan New Army.

And Cheng Qian was the chief of staff and military director of the Hunan Governor's Office at that time, so *** has always called him his "old boss". At the First National Congress of the Kuomintang held in Guangzhou in 1924, ** explained the results of the examination of the "Publication and Propaganda Problem".

Cheng Qian attended the meeting as a representative of the Kuomintang in Hunan. It was at this meeting that Cheng Qian had a deep impression and understanding of ***.

During the Chongqing negotiations in 1945, ** and Cheng Qian had two in-depth conversations. ** Said to Cheng Qian: "Song Gong, you are a prestigious veteran in the Kuomintang, and you should use your influence to play a role.

I know that the next election will elect a vice-president, you can try it, and if you succeed, you will be able to work for the welfare of the people; If it fails, it doesn't matter, just go back to Hunan and promote the peace movement. ”

Cheng Qian felt that it made sense after hearing this, so he nodded in agreement: "You are right, how can you know the result without trying?" In March 1948, Cheng Qian participated in the election of deputy **, although he entered the top three, but unfortunately his votes lagged far behind Li Zongren and Sun Ke, and finally had no choice but to withdraw from the election.

On the morning of July 24 of the same year, Cheng Qian took the train back to Hunan to serve as the provincial chairman, and many important figures in the party, government and army of Hunan came to the station to greet him. As a native of Hunan, Cheng Qian had a deep influence in Hunan, and was called "the patriarch of Hunan" by the newspapers at that time.

However, Cheng Qian's situation was not good, he was often squeezed out by Chiang Kai-shek and the Gui family, and he was also dissatisfied with Chiang Kai-shek's civil war and ***'s behavior. When the People's Liberation Army won repeatedly on the battlefield, Cheng Qian was extremely conflicted.

On the one hand, he had to chant "** to avoid arousing Chiang Kai-shek's suspicions; On the other hand, he was unwilling to be used by Chiang Kai-shek to fight with Bai Chongxi, bringing disaster to the local people.

Cheng Qian did not take suppressive measures against the "anti-hunger, anti-civil war, and anti-**" struggles led by the local organization of the Communist Party of China in Hunan, but instead ordered to crack down on ** criminals and did something that conformed to public opinion.

Cheng Qian's patriotic behavior attracted the attention of the Hunan Provincial Working Committee of the Communist Party of China, and reported to him for him. ** After learning of Cheng Qian's actions, they were determined to win him over to the people.

In March 1949, Cheng Qian received an order from the Kuomintang to go to Nanjing, and instructed Zhang Shizhao to go to Nanjing from Shanghai to talk to Cheng Qian. Zhang Shizhao conveyed his hope to Cheng Qian, eliminated Cheng Qian's concerns, and strengthened his determination to revolt.

On August 4, Cheng Qian and others launched an uprising and electrified, and Changsha was peacefully liberated, which was inseparable from the efforts of Cheng Qian and Chen Mingren. After Cheng Qian's uprising, ** received him with extremely high standards and good treatment, which had a certain impact on the rapid liberation of the southwest and the uprising of the Kuomintang generals.

In September 1949, ** personally invited Cheng Qian to attend the first plenary session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. After receiving the invitation, Cheng Qian was so excited that he didn't sleep all night, and set off from Changsha on August 31, passing through Pingjiang, Tongcheng and other places, and arrived in Wuchang.

There, he was warmly received by the military and political leaders of Hubei Province and the leaders of the Fourth Field Army, including **, Xiao Ke and others. ** is very concerned about Cheng Qian's entry into Beijing, and even often understands the situation with **Tong**.

Since the northern section of the Jinghan Road had not yet been repaired, Cheng Qian and others could only take a special train sent by the Fourth Field Army from Hankou and arrive in Beiping via Zhengzhou, Jinan and other places. On September 7, Cheng Qian's special train arrived in Beiping smoothly and was warmly welcomed by the leaders of the first class.

** Personally stepped forward to hold Cheng Qian's hand and asked him for his opinions and thoughts on the CPPCC.

**Respect Cheng Qian, regard him as a veteran of the Kuomintang and a personal friend, and specially invite him to participate in the new CPPCC meeting. He personally went to the Beijing Hotel to visit the representatives of the Kuomintang uprising generals, and invited Cheng Qian, Chen Mingren and others to visit the Temple of Heaven together, and also took a precious group photo.

**Attached importance to Cheng Qian's arrangement, discussed with Cheng Qian's younger brother Cheng Xingling about Cheng Qian's arrangement, and proposed that he be the vice chairman of the Central South Military and Political Committee.

Cheng Xingling didn't expect *** to respect Cheng Qian so much, and called him "Song Gong", he hurriedly said: "Chairman, you treat him so favorably, he will definitely be grateful." As for the arrangement of work, he will gladly accept it, and I know very well about that, and I would like to rest assured that the chairman. ”

** shook his head and said, "I think it's better for you to discuss it with Song Gong and tell me the results tomorrow." Later, after Cheng Qian learned about ***'s arrangement for himself, he was deeply grateful.

Cheng Qian participated in the founding ceremony of the People's Republic of China as a member of the People's Committee and was appointed vice chairman of the People's Revolutionary Military Committee. Before Cheng Qian was ready to return to Hunan, ** specially set up a banquet in Zhongnanhai for him, ** and other leaders to accompany him.

After the banquet, **personally sent Cheng Qian to the door, ** personally sent Cheng Qian and others to the special car. Cheng Qian was very moved by the respect and care of the two leaders of New China for Cheng Qian, and he sighed: "* and the greatness of the Communist Party is really indescribable in words!" ”

In the days that followed, ** made many appointments for interviews.

After Cheng Qian's death, his family made two requests. The first request was for Cheng Qianqian to honestly confess his guilt in his speech at the first meeting of people's representatives from all walks of life held in Hunan, and not to hide anything, without taboo or concealing anything.

The second request was that Cheng Qian came to Beijing again in 1952 at the invitation of ***. The two of them boated in Zhongnanhai, and the most important thing was that *** personally operated the oars and rowed for him.

Cheng Qian admired the achievements made by New China one after another under the correct leadership, especially after the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and his admiration for the first place was even more overflowing.

Cheng Qian once said very excitedly: "I have been following Mr. Sun Yat-sen and Mr. Huang Keqiang for a long time, and the two of them yearn for the freedom and equality of the country first of all, but it is a pity that they have been made a mess by the new and old warlords, almost to the point of losing the country."

After purging all reactionaries, the CCP and the Chinese Communist Party defeated US imperialism, which had invaded our country for a long time. Since then, our country has truly become independent and self-reliant, and the Chinese people have truly stood up! ”

**Take Cheng Qian's advice very seriously. Cheng Qian once raised the issue of too many party members to ***, and then instructed the Central Organization Department to convene a national organizational work conference to focus on discussing the issue of party building and re-educating and rectifying party members across the country.

**On his 70th birthday, he invited Cheng Qian and other friends to Zhongnanhai as guests, and Cheng Qian also took his youngest daughter Cheng Xi to participate. According to Cheng Xi's recollection, ** once said that there are not many people who can talk directly to Cheng Qian, and Cheng Qian is counted as one.

**The respect and friendship for Cheng Qian can be seen. However, Cheng Qian died of wrestling and pneumonia in early 1968 at the age of 86.

After Cheng Qian's death, Cheng Xi put forward two practical needs to ***: first, because the current housing is too large and the expenses are also large, he hopes to be able to replace it with a smaller residence; Second, after the death of his father, his mother lost his job, and his sister was still young, hoping that the chairman could help him find a job.

**After receiving Cheng Xi's letter, he immediately made instructions: "Regarding the first request, I don't agree, you are still young, I will send someone to take care of you."

For work problems, I will also arrange it as soon as possible, you don't have to worry. Even when his body gradually weakened in his later years, ** still did not forget his concern for Cheng Qian's family, and he instructed the staff to take good care of them.
