Inline six cylinder supercharger large 5 seater SUV Mazda CX 70 detailed analysis

With the addition of a turbocharged inline-six and a plug-in hybrid system, the new five-seater SUV has taken a leap forward, and it is the CX-70 that Mazda has just launched. You can think of it as a new variant of the CX-90, changing the seven-seat layout to a five-seater. The all-new SUV shares the platform, powertrain, and most of the body design with its siblings, giving consumers more choice.

Compared to the CX-90, which has more chrome decorations, the CX-70's design style is more sporty, using more glossy black elements, such as its grille with a black mesh design, which replaces the glossy shape of the CX-90, while the front bumper is also different, with larger air vents for a more youthful visual effect.

The new rear bumper also has a new design with simulated vent trim. Mirrored features appear on mirror caps, door handles and roof racks, while optional 21-inch wheels also feature a new look.

Inside-wise, the CX-70 looks very similar to the CX-90, at least until you realize there aren't third-row seats. The exclusive red leather with black trim is exclusive to the CX-70, and red stitching on the door panels and steering wheel adds texture. However, the grey plastic strip with a printed carbon fibre pattern somewhat detracts from the excellent texture. I would like Mazda to offer at least the CX-90's "Kakenui" dashboard stitching and real wood grain trim as options.

The CX-70 has most of the same configuration compared to the CX-90, but it is the first Mazda model to integrate Amazon Alexa in the infotainment system. It provides voice control for some in-vehicle functions, such as climate control and infotainment systems, and can also be synced with Amazon-compatible home devices. The CX-70 also features unresponsive driver support as part of its adaptive cruise control and lane centering features; If the driver does not respond to a series of escalating prompts and warnings (e.g. in the event of a medical emergency), the vehicle will gradually come to a stop within its lane and activate the hazard warning lights.

The wheelbase of the CX-70 is the same as that of the CX-90 at 3119mm, and even the length is almost the same, even if the modified bumper may affect the size, the difference is very small. Since it doesn't need to accommodate a third row of seats, the CX-70 has a huge rear space and trunk storage space that you can lie flat in, which adds even more use cases.

The CX-70 uses the same powertrain as the CX-90, with a 3The 3-litre inline-six turbocharged engine produces 340 hp and 500 Nm of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The plug-in hybrid version is equipped with 2The 5-liter four-cylinder engine is combined with an electric motor to produce a maximum power of 323 hp and a maximum torque of 500 Nm, with an all-electric range of about 30 miles (48 km).

The all-wheel drive system with a rear-wheel drive bias is standard across the car, with a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds for a six-cylinder engine and 3,500 pounds for a hybrid system. The CX-70 will weigh slightly less than the larger CX-90, so it has a bit better fuel economy.

The Mazda CX-70 has yet to announce overseas pricing, and apparently it will be slightly lower than the CX-90's $40,970 and the CX-90 PHEV's $51,320. The base CX-70 is expected to cost around $38,000, possibly to around $57,000 if fully specified. In comparison, the somewhat outdated Honda Passport starts at $43,295 (including shipping), while the flagship Black Edition costs $49,365. The demure Toyota Crown Signia will also compete in this area, although the 243-horsepower hybrid model has yet to be announced. The Mazda CX-70 will be launched overseas later this year, and it is difficult to say whether it will be introduced in China, but even if it is introduced, the 3The 3-liter inline-six turbocharged engine will also not be available.
