On the evening of February 12, the official WeChat account of Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Research Base issued a "Notice on Uncivilized Behavior", saying that on the same day, Gao Moumou (male, 53 years old) threw objects into the outdoor activity field of Jiangyue Pavilion when he visited the panda base, and the staff had cleared the debris out of the outdoor activity field. In view of Gao's uncivilized visit and behaviors that may cause harm to the giant panda, he is prohibited from re-entering the panda base (including Panda Valley) for life. After inspection and observation by the relevant staff of the panda base, the giant panda's physical condition is normal. (February 13, The Paper).
In recent years, the Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Research Base has reported a number of uncivilized behaviors of tourists, including feeding without permission, splashing water on pandas, illegal live broadcasts, etc., and many tourists involved have also been punished with serious warnings, 5-year bans, and lifetime bans.
On November 30 last year, "Panda Valley" issued a notice on uncivilized behavior: Li Moumou (male, 50 years old) and Tan Moumou (female, 55 years old) visited the Dujiangyan Wild Breeding Research Center (Panda Valley) of Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Research Base. Pan Moumou (male, 31 years old) brought his pet into the Panda Valley Park, and he was prohibited from entering the Panda Base (including Panda Valley) again within one year from the occurrence of the uncivilized behavior.
The giant panda is a very shy animal and does not like noisy and lively environments, so tourists must be quiet and not loud when visiting. In addition, the giant panda is also a special animal, has higher requirements for the environment and food, and has its own unique living habits and behavioral characteristics, when visiting, tourists should understand their living habits and food preferences, do not tease, lure the giant panda, do not feed, do not throw, do not splash water, do not take pictures without flashing, especially when the giant panda cubs are on.
Although there are very eye-catching reminder signs in the giant panda pavilion, and there are security guards on the scene to maintain order, there are so many tourists, ignoring these friendly reminders, or making loud noises, or throwing sticks, stones, fruits, and even throwing barbecued sausages with sticks to the giant pandas without authorization, these tourists do not intend to hurt the giant pandas, and some are still out of love for the giant pandas, but these behaviors are out of bounds, and objectively bring a lot of hidden dangers to the health and safety of the giant pandas.
It is better to educate a thousand times than to punish once. The handling of uncivilized behavior of tourists should not be limited to verbal warnings or criticism, but also impose penalties if necessary. In this sense, the punishment of uncivilized tourists by the Giant Panda Breeding Research Base is a vivid civilized education lesson.
Of course, in the long run, the elimination of uncivilized visiting behavior may depend on the cultivation of civilized customs and the improvement of citizens' quality, but hard measures such as a lifetime ban on entry and other prohibitive and punitive measures can also be a quick and effective method. There are red cards on the sports field, and there must also be red cards in the scenic area. Only by timely "punishing" uncivilized tourists can they play a warning role of "killing a hundred people", and tourists also have the obligation to consciously abide by laws and regulations and scenic spot management, which is not only about civilization, but also about the safety of giant pandas and tourists.
It is everyone's responsibility to protect the giant panda, a national treasure, to improve their own civilization literacy, to be a civilized tourist, to walk gently, just as you come gently, "wave your hand, do not take away a cloud", is the best protection for the giant panda.
