China Unicom butterfly optical cable centralized procurement projectzhongguoliantong
On January 17, China Unicom released the prequalification announcement of the 2024 China Unicom butterfly optical cable centralized procurement project.
The scale of this centralized procurement project is:
1) 1259236 km of ordinary butterfly optical cable;
2) 13938911 optical fiber connector plugs.
This project is not divided into bid packages.
This collection is in the past four years. China Unicom's first large-scale butterfly cable centralized procurement, butterfly cable is named because of the cross-sectional shape of a butterfly, is a new type of user access optical cable, mainly used in the construction of intelligent buildings, digital communities, campus networks, local area networks and other scenarios. Butterfly fiber optic cable has the advantages of small outer diameter, light weight, low cost, reliable performance, and easy laying. In recent years, with the gradual saturation of FTTH and other constructions, operators' demand for butterfly cables has generally declined.
The last time China Unicom invited a tender for butterfly cables at its headquarters was in August 2019, when it openly recruited a variety of types of butterfly cables. On January 6, 2020, China Unicom's butterfly optical cable public recruitment results were announced, and a total of 16 manufacturers were selected.
In terms of mobile, on May 9, 2023, China Mobile launched 477580,000 pico-long kilometers of butterfly cable centralized procurement, the highest price limit is about 118.5 billion yuan. In the end, 11 companies including Hengtong and Fiberhome were selected, which is the largest centralized procurement of butterfly cables in recent years, an increase of 11% year-on-year compared with 2021, and the overall trend is increasing year by year.
The last time Telecom tendered for butterfly optical cables was in October 23, when China Telecom introduced optical cables (2023) centralized procurement project, including butterfly introduction optical cables, circular introduction optical cables, ** optical cables, indoor and outdoor introduction optical cables, etc., a total of 2.2 million core kilometers.
At the beginning of the new year, Radio and Television and China Unicom Corporation successively issued a series of optical cable bidding, although the amount is not very large, but it still adds some comfort to the cold optical communication industry, and also brings new expectations for the next year.
