At such a time when thousands of homes are lit up and people are reunited, Zhang Jiaolu still chose to stay at his job. Since joining Shanghai Xuhui Sanitation Service *** Jing'an Sanitation Branch in 2014, this is the tenth Spring Festival he has spent in his post.
As a member of the inclined soil removal team, Zhang Jiaolu's job is to ensure that the domestic garbage in the jurisdiction is transferred and cleaned up in a timely manner. The sloping soil area is densely populated, with many old communities and shops along the street, and the lines he is responsible for cover more than 40 communities and units, as well as several commercial streets. Every morning at five o'clock, when most people are still asleep, Zhang Jiaolu has already started his day. On a cold and windy morning, he drove the cleaning truck and began his daily cleaning work.
For sanitation workers, the Spring Festival means a busier work schedule. Visiting relatives and friends has increased the amount of household waste compared to usual, and a colleague in the team has returned to his hometown for the New Year, and he needs to rearrange the area he is usually responsible for. In order to meet this challenge, Zhangjiaolu needed to plan the route in advance, accurately calculate the time and route of each trip, and ensure that every area could be cleaned efficiently. Starting work at half past five in the morning, Zhang Jiaolu needs to go back and forth between the cleaning dock and the cleaning point, turning four or five times in a row, until noon to complete the day's tasks, and sometimes he can't even catch lunch. In case of extremely cold weather, it is also necessary to arrive at the company earlier to warm up the vehicle in advance to ensure that the machinery and equipment can operate normally.
During the Spring Festival, Zhang Jiaolu stayed in Shanghai for the New Year with his wife Tian Wanhong. Also a sanitation worker, Tian Wanhong is responsible for cleaning public toilets in the Xuhui Riverside area. Every Spring Festival, Zhang Jiaolu's parents would always ask him in advance if he could go home for the New Year. However, for Zhang Jiaolu, sticking to his post and keeping the city clean and orderly has become a part of his life and a commitment to society. On this special occasion, the couple shared the responsibility of cleaning the city, interpreting their love for their profession and their sense of responsibility for the city with practical actions.
The child has already asked the fellow to take it back, let the child accompany the old man for the New Year, and we will usually take the time to go back. Although Zhang Jiaolu and his wife cannot enjoy the joy of reunion with their families, in their hearts, it is also a kind of happiness and satisfaction to be able to contribute to the cleanliness of the city. In the streets and alleys of Xuhui, there are many "urban beauticians" who choose to stay in their posts like Zhang Jiaolu, who choose to stay away from their hometowns, stick to their posts, and guard the cleanliness and tidiness of the city with their actions. They are indispensable guardians of the city, and their perseverance also reminds us to cherish every effort and dedication around us and jointly protect our beautiful urban home.
