1.Poland** Transport Port: $8.9 billion

Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) is located 37 kilometers southwest of Warsaw, with a total area of about 3,000 hectares.

The 35 billion zloty ($8.9 billion) project includes not only a new airport with a two-runway, but also the modernization of the existing 2,400 km railway line and the construction of a new 1,800 km 250 km h high-speed rail line consisting of 10 main corridors, among others.

In 2023, CPK signed a contract with SUD Architekt and EGIS to commission the design of the first line of the Warsaw-Lodz high-speed railway for a transaction of PLN 300 million. The railway line is about 140 kilometers long, and the maximum speed of the trains reaches 350 km h. Construction of the line is expected to start in 2024 and be put into operation in 2027.

* The traffic port will integrate air, rail and road transport. The planned railway line will reduce the travel time from Warsaw** station to the airport to 15 minutes and to Lodz Fabretzna station to 25 minutes. Polish Railways will create uninterrupted, fast and interoperable journeys between major Polish cities, while improving connectivity in the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region. CPK will also significantly increase regional freight capacity, playing a decisive role in promoting connectivity and economic growth in Central and Eastern Europe.

2.Western Sydney International Airport MRT project: US$7.4 billion

The Western Sydney Park City Authority (WPCA) recently launched the Sydney Aerocity Master Plan for public comment.

These include a 23-kilometre driverless metro line that connects the suburbs of St Mary's to Western Sydney International Airport.

The metro line is budgeted to cost A$11 billion (US$7.4 billion) and includes six metro stations and will build 35 km long viaduct, construction of a 190 m long railway bridge on the M12 motorway, etc. The preliminary works of the MTR commenced in December 2023.

The project has been stalled for years.

As early as 2019, Australia** reported that Western Sydney Airport is planned to be located in Badgerys Creek, 60 kilometers from the city center, with a project investment of 38 billion Australian dollars, scheduled to be completed and put into operation in 2026, the new airport includes a 3700-meter runway plus terminal, which can transport 10 million passengers per year.

The new metro runs from St Marys to Western Sydney Aerotrophia via Western Sydney International Airport. Australia and New South Wales** signed an agreement in late 2019 to provide A$3.5 billion (US$2.3 billion) in earmarked matching funding for the metro, "scheduled to start construction in 2020 and open in 2026".

3.Toronto's Yonge Street Subway Extension: $6.8 billion

The city north of Toronto, south-central Ontario, Canada**, in partnership with York Area Rapid Transit and the Toronto Transportation Commission, is working on a Yonge Street Metro Extension Project in Ontario. The extension is part of the Metrolinx Regional Transportation Plan, announced in 2008.

In May 2021, Canada** announced more than $10 billion for the construction of four metro lines: the new Ontario Line, the three-stop Scarborough Metro Extension, the Yonge Street North Extension, and the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension.

The Ontario Line is 16 kilometers long from Exhibition Place (Ontario Recreation Palace) through downtown Toronto to the Ontario Science Museum. There are 15 new stations with approximately 30 minutes of travel and are connected to more than 40 local and regional transit lines, including TTC's Lines 1 and 2, GO Train Line and the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail.

The C$9.3 billion (US$6.8 billion) North extension extends 8 kilometres north from its current terminus to the centre of Richmond Hill. Five stations will be developed with an average spacing of 15 km. Construction will begin in February 2023 and is expected to be completed in 2030.

4.Tehran metro expansion, Iran: $5.8 billion

Iran's Tehran Suburban Railway Company is expanding the Tehran subway with three new lines. Line 8 is a planned ring line with 34 stations, including 21 new stations; Line 9 is another loop line with 39 stations, including 27 new stations; Line 10 runs east from the Vardavade metro station in western Tehran to the Kosar Aqueduct with 35 stations and intersects with the Line 4 extension.

The project has a total budget of 2,438 trillion riyals ($5.8 billion) and all three lines are expected to be completed in early 2029.

5.China's Yan'an-Yulin high-speed railway: $5.6 billion

The starting point of Yanyu high-speed railway is located in Yan'an, northward through Baota District of Yan'an City, Yanchuan County, Qingjian County, Suide County, Mizhi County of Yulin City to Hengshan District, and the end point is located in Yulin, National Energy and Chemical Base, with a total of 7 stations in Yan'an, Yan'an New Area, Yanchuan, Qingjian North, Suide West, Mizhi North and Yulin South, with a construction period of 5 years.

The whole line of Yanyu high-speed railway is 2397 km, design speed 350 km/h, total estimated investment of 41.5 billion yuan (US$5.6 billion). 6.China's Yellow Bucket to Baise Railway: $4.9 billionThe Huangbai Railway, starting from the Yellow Bucket Station of the Shanghai-Kunming Railway, passing through Anshun City, Liupanshui City, Qianxinan Prefecture and Baise City of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in Guizhou Province, and ending at the Baise Station of the Nankun Railway, has a total length of about 315 kilometers and a design speed of 160km per hour, with a total of 27 stations. In December 2023, construction began on the Huangbai Railway, with a total investment of 33.9 billion yuan (US$4.9 billion).

Huangbai Railway is a national railway-level electric traction passenger and freight railway, connecting the Shanghai-Kunming Railway in the north and the Nanning-Kunming Railway in the south, which is an important part of the western land-sea new corridor.

7.Ningbo Metro Line 6, China: $4.8 billion

The first phase of Ningbo Metro Line 6 is an east-west urban line, with the line starting from Ningbo West Railway Station in the west, passing through Gulin, Jishigang, Gaoqiao, Jiangbei, Sanjiangkou, High-tech Zone, and finally reaching Honglian Station.

The 31.5 billion yuan (US$4.8 billion) project involves a construction length of 396 km metro line with a total of 24 new stations.

The first phase of Ningbo Metro Line 6 will strengthen the connection between Ningbo West Hub Area, Gulin Jishigang Residential Area, Sanjiangkou Core Area, High-tech Zone, Yongjiang Science and Technology Innovation Zone and other places, undertake the passenger flow on the main axis of the city's east-west development, strengthen the traffic radiation function of the core area to the west hub, the core area of Sanjiangkou and Yongjiang Science and Technology Innovation Zone, give full play to the overall benefits of the rail transit network, and improve the service level of rail transit.

8.Bangladesh Dhaka Metro Line 1: $4.7 billion

Dhaka Public Transport, Bangladesh (DMTCL) is building a new metro line, Line 1, in Dhaka. The project, worth Tk 525.6 billion (US$4.7 billion), involves a construction length of 31The 23-kilometre metro line, which is expected to carry more than 1 million passengers per day, will be the first underground metro in the region, divided into the Dhaka Airport Line and the Purbachi Line.

The Airport Line includes 19 from Hazrat Shah Jaalal International Airport to Kamalpur Station87 km of underground metro stations, including 12 new metro stations. The airport line will be connected to the Purbach line at Natunbazar station, which will run from Kamalapur to Purbach New Town, and will be built with a length of 1136 km elevated metro line with 7 elevated stations.

Japan's Tokyu Construction and Bangladesh Max Infrastructure are responsible for the construction of the line, which began in February 2023 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

9.Taoyuan Metro, Taiwan Province, China: $4.7 billion

The Taiwan Provincial Transportation Department of China is building a new subway line from Taoyuan Puxin Station to Yingge Station. The new link is designed to relieve pressure on the Western Main Line, which passes through these two stations.

The Western Main Line is the busiest railway in Taiwan Province, carrying more than 1. passengers per year6.1 billion people.

The NT$155.6 billion (US$4.7 billion) project involves the construction of a 24-kilometer metro line with an underground station, depot and control room, and the installation of signaling, lighting and security systems. The construction of the line will start in June 2023 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

10.Ningbo-Cixi suburban railway, China: US$4.6 billion

Ningbo Line 10 Urban Railway Development*** An intercity railway is under construction to connect the cities of Ningbo and Cixi in Zhejiang Province, China. The project aims to extend the existing Kongpu Station of Ningbo Metro Line 2 to Cixi High-Speed Railway Station, enabling passengers to transfer to the Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo high-speed railway.

The 32 billion yuan ($4.6 billion) project involves the construction of 64 kilometers of intercity railway lines, with an underground line about 16 kilometers long, including a section 14 km of mountain tunnels. The project also includes the construction of 13 new stations (6 underground and 7 elevated), bridges, tunnels, new administrative facilities, and the installation of signalling and security systems.

Construction of the project began in May 2023 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, and the new line will be named Ningbo Metro Line 10.
