Yang Jiong, a native of Huayin, Shaanxi.

The four heroes of the early Tang Dynasty ranked second, and when it came to the prodigy of the Tang Dynasty in the early stage, Wang Bo took the lead, and it is estimated that Yang Jiong will not hesitate to say that I am the same after listening to it, so what is the different story about him?

Yang Jiong was the only one who took the prodigy exam and obtained a certificate, and when he was 11 years old, he entered the Hongwen Pavilion to wait for the system, which made those who had lost their heads for the exam very envious. However, it was this waiting system that kept him there for sixteen years.

I don't know if Tang Gaozong forgot that there was a prodigy named Yang Jiong, or if no one was willing to give Gaozong a wake-up. In short, Yang Jiong is not very good, and the reason is that he is a little arrogant.

Yang Jiong was arrogant when he was young, and a sarcastic "unicorn last" offended all the courtiers.

Yang Jiong once said: "Every time I see a court official, my eyes are unicorn lasts." ”

At first, everyone was puzzled, curious to ask why he was like a unicorn last? He replied very frankly: "It's like the unicorn in the play, ** is a unicorn, it's just a donkey, portraying the horns of the head, modifying the fur, it looks like a unicorn, it's still a donkey when you take off your vest!" ”

felt that these words were not interesting, and added a mocking sentence, "You are all a group of guys with no virtue and knowledge, what is the difference between wearing vermilion court clothes and donkey covered with unicorn skin?" ”

With this sincere answer, Yang Jiong successfully lost his popularity, so he deserved to be in the system for 16 years, and he was depressed for three or four years in the Jiupin petty official.

The Old Tang Book once ranked the four heroes of the early Tang Dynasty as "Wang, Yang, Lu, Luo", but Yang Jiong himself was not satisfied with this ranking, and the conclusion he gave was"Shame in front of Lu, shame on the queen"。

It means that he is ashamed of being in front of Lu Zhaolin, but he is ashamed of being behind Wang Bo. This sentence is quite straightforward, on the one hand, it expresses his respect and admiration for Lu Zhaolin, on the other hand, he is contemptuous and disobedient to Wang Bo, of course, he also admits that Wang Bo's works are indeed well written, and part of the reason may be due to the disapproval of Wang Bo's character.

After three or four years of grinding in the officialdom, the edges and corners seem to have been polished a little, and he understands a little bit of human sophistication, and finally he was promoted to the bachelor of Chongwen Hall because of the recommendation of others, and a year later he was promoted to the crown prince Zhan Shizhi.

However, within two years of the good days, Yang Jiong's brother followed Xu Jingye to crusade against Wu Zetian, and was killed after the defeat, so he was implicated and demoted to Zizhou, Sichuan Province as a judicial member of the army.

At the expiration of the derogatory period, Yang Jiong returned to Luoyang and was arranged by Wu Zetian to be a teacher in the Xiyi Museum.

At this time, Yang Jiong's edges and corners have been smoothed, although he is not very satisfied with the position arranged by Wu Zetian, but he still lives like he once hated, and he is courteous to Wu Zetian, and presents "Bon Fu", which is *** for Wu Zetian and has been appreciated, and then he is far away from the capital due to exclusion.

The 43-year-old Yang Jiong served as the county magistrate of Yingchuan (present-day Quzhou City, Zhejiang). When he took office, Yang Jiong loved the government and the people, fulfilled his duties, and always took improving people's livelihood as his own responsibility.

It's a pity that less than a year after serving in office, Yingchuan County suffered a serious drought, the fields cracked, the crops were scorched, and the people had no harvest.

Faced with the phenomenon of the people starving to death in Yingchuan, Yang Jiong was heartbroken, and couldn't help but look up to the sky and sigh

I can't save the people of Yingchuan from fire and water, in vain!

I am full of talents, but I am powerless to help the people.

Feeling guilty, he jumped off Yingchuan Lake and died in his post.

It is said that the night of lightning and thunder and torrential rain eased the drought and the people were saved.

In order to commemorate his kindness, the local people built a Yang Gong Ancestral Hall, which has a statue of Yang Jiong, respected as the city god, and worshiped for many years. And engraved with the couplet:

At that time, there were five green pines outside Yingchuan City;

Generations of virtuous orders, splashing water beside the river for thousands of years.

recalled that he was arrogant for half of his life, but in the end, he used a sincere heart to complete the most dazzling life in a small county.

As one of the "Four Masters of the Early Tang Dynasty", Yang Jiong, he is a poet who has never been to the battlefield, and the most famous poem he has written is this "From the Army", and the last two sentences have been passed down through the ages.

The beacon fire shines on Xijing, and I feel uneven in my heart.

Yazhang resigned from the phoenix, and rode around the dragon city.

The snow is dark and the flag is painted, and the wind is mixed with the sound of drums.

Rather be a centurion than a scholar.

At that time, the Tibetans and Turks had repeatedly invaded the Gansu region, even if he was in the capital and could not go to the scene in person, but Yang Jiong could still use his bold imagination to create a patriotic soldier who threw himself into the side, as the so-called good man was full of blood, this poem can fully feel the passion of the scholar who abandoned his pen and went to the battlefield.

This poem was written impassionedly, and after reading it, it awakened the hearts of countless good men who were determined to serve the country.

This poem is also the leading work of Biansai's poetry, and it has become a model for later Biansai poets to learn.

In terms of poetic style, Yang Jiong pulled the palace style poems directly from the pavilion to the side plug, as well as the famous mountains and rivers of the motherland, and got rid of the mediocrity and boredom of the poetry world.

Yang Jiong was very arrogant in the first half of his life, but he was very pragmatic in the second half of his life.

When he was young, he said that "the queen is ashamed", but after Wang Bo's death, he praised Wang Bo in the preface to "Prince Anji" for "thinking about the disadvantages and using the light to do things", and praised Wang Bo's poems as "strong but not false, rigid and moist, carved but not broken, and pressed and strong".

If the experience of Wang and Yang in the "Four Heroes of the Early Tang Dynasty" is bumpy enough, or very unfortunate, then Lu Zhaolin is even worse, his life can only be described as miserable, we will talk about it in the next issue.
