Yang Jiong (650-693), the word Lingming, alias Yang Yingchuan, Hongnong Huayin, Tang Gaozong and Wu Ze** minister, Tang Dynasty poet, one of the "Four Masters of the Early Tang Dynasty".
Yang Jiong is the most outstanding with the five rhythms, which clarified the charming and gorgeous poetic style since the Qi Liang period, contributed to the stereotype of the five-character rhythm poems, and played a role in the history of poetry development.
Yang Jiong was born in a poor peasant family, and was born smart and studious, and his talent was revealed when he was young.
At the age of five, he entered the school and was able to write essays and poems at the age of seven, and the eleven-year-old Yang Jiong passed the prodigy exam only once and became a veritable prodigy.
In 676, he passed the imperial examination, won the post of school scrivener, and was later recommended as a bachelor of Hongbunkan. During this period, he was most pleased that he also received sincere help and guidance from Zhang Shuo, a scholar of Jixian University, and his knowledge has grown greatly.
It's a pity that there is no gold and no one is perfect. Children with good qualifications and smooth sailing who grow up inadvertently have the Achilles heel of domineering, often more talented and less energetic. Yang Jiong, who is already upright and unruly by nature, has to say what he is not used to.
When he was in the capital, every time he saw some court officials wearing court uniforms with a domineering and pretentious appearance, he felt very uncomfortable and ridiculed them as "unicorn lasts."
"Qilin" is a mythical beast in ancient Chinese legends, with auspicious and powerful symbolic meanings. A "last" is a wooden tool that is placed inside to shape shoes and hats, which is commonly referred to as a mold. "Qilin" is a mythical beast. On the stage, the person who disguises himself as a unicorn play first makes a unicorn-shaped sleeve and drapes it on the back of a donkey to start the performance. Uncovering this layer of unicorn skin, it is actually a donkey.
Yang Jiong's sarcasm is very spicy, he compares the ** of the court to a fake unicorn with nothing on the surface. This caused dissatisfaction and attacks from the court, and naturally affected his future.
Yang Jiong has always cherished the ideal of helping the people through the world.
In 679, when the Tibetans and Turks repeatedly invaded the Tang border, Yang Jiong planned to write from Congrong, and his famous poem "From the Army" was written during this period.
At the same time, he also wrote unrestrained and heroic poems such as "Zhan Cheng Nan", "Out of the Fortress" and "Purple Horse" to show his ambition and feelings for the country. These works of his were sought after by people, and he was ranked with Wang Bo, Lu Zhaolin, and Luo Binwang, who were famous at that time, in the order of "Wang Yang Lu Luo".
But he said that he was embarrassed to be in front of Lu, and he was ashamed to be behind the king. He spoke so frankly and bluntly, which surprised many people.
One of Yang Jiong's cousins, Yang Shen, followed Xu Jingye against Wu Zetian, and Yang Jiong was implicated and demoted to Sichuan to serve as a judicial member in the army, and returned to Luoyang five years later to teach at the Siyi Hall in Luoyang. But this tortuous experience did not smooth out his edges, and he became more unruly and refused to bow to stereotypes, so he was often hated.
He seized the opportunity of Wu Zetian to distribute many Bon to various Buddhist temples and invited the ministers to watch it at the Luoyang City Gate, and wrote "Bon Fu" to Wu Zetian to recommend himself. It's a pity that there are too many enemies, not only did they not get attention, but they were also transferred to the more remote Yingchuan. Zhang said that when he was doing business, he advised him not to be arrogant and not to be too strict in doing things for others.
After teaching in the capital for more than a year. Yang Jiong was appointed as the commander of Yingchuan County. After he took office, he seemed to have no bookish atmosphere, and the "Old Tang Book" and "New Tang Book" both said that he was known for his harshness. It seems that his eyes can't get sand. For those who do not honestly confess their crimes, they will be ordered to be punished.
But after all, he has done a lot of practical and good things for the people of Yingchuan. On the basis of conscientiously doing a good job of investigation and study, he cracked down on those local ruffians and hooligans and punished those officials who committed unscrupulous behavior, and the social order took a fundamental turn for the better. It gives people a stable living environment.
In order to reclaim the wasteland on the other side of the Qujiang River, Guandu was set up on the riverside to mobilize the common people to go to the other side of the river to operate silkworms. Just like the people in the city now go to the countryside to support the farmers, he personally went to Hangzhou to contact the mulberry seedlings and silkworms, asked the technical personnel to guide, contact the product sales, and worked hard to increase the income of the farmers.
In view of the current situation of the drought of the local land in Yingchuan, he personally designed the plan, organized the people to carry out water conservancy construction, and took the lead in donating money when the money was not enough, and also donated the money he earned from writing inscriptions for others. After the completion of the project, in order to commemorate his achievements, the common people renamed the Kowloon Tong as "Yangtang".
In the third year of Yang Jiong's tenure in Yingchuan, the climate was repeated, with frost in summer and thunder in winter. When the rain is needed, the sun is scorching. As the highest administrator of the county, he was very anxious, according to the "Quxian Chronicle", he could not ask for rain for a long time, in order to show his sincerity in asking for rain, he actually jumped into the well and died.
An official like him, Mo said that there are few contemporaries, even in Chinese history. In order to commemorate his merits, the local people built Yang Jiong's Temple and enshrined the statue at the place where he donated his life. Every year on the first day of the sixth lunar month, carrying his idol around the county is carried around, and this ritual has been preserved to this day.
Wu Zetian was very moved when he heard this, saying that his behavior was sympathetic and his ambition was worthy of praise. Tang Xuanzong crowned Yang Jiong as Renhubo.
It is rumored that for thousands of years, the local wind and rain in Yingchuan have been smooth, and the people have lived and worked in peace and contentment, relying on Yang Jiong's spirit in the sky to protect all living beings.
